3 Incredible Place You Must Visit in Northeast India
It has been nearly 8 years since I started maintaining a travel journal and probably turned myself to some more observing traveler from a happy-go-lucky leisure tourist destination. Ah! 8 Years; seems as though it was just yesterday I had been to Goa.
Frankly, all these years of travelling have made me realize what went during Aldous Huxley's head when he wrote the lines --"To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries." In my case, it was more about leaving all my prejudices and learning about various cultures and individuals, which somehow my geography teacher in school never worried upon, sadly. And so, I think myself lucky enough to have been in a position to visit quite a few countries of the country, especially the seven sister states of northeast India, together with utmost fascination
My very first tour to North-east India was to the property of proud Ahoms -- Assam, and it was pure bliss; by relishing local desserts and enjoying natural vistas for my interactions with some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. This is my selection of the best travel experiences in northeast India.

Both automobile and elephant safaris are available in the park. Since I'd already skilled car safari at Jim Corbett, this time that I went for the next option; and believe me, it was actually fun. The safari group I was part of, began its journey from Ghorakati nearby Rhino Land Park. We anticipated seeing the tigers readily, but it was not to be though we did come across many pug marks. The mahout told me that the tall sea blossoms of the park offer perfect camouflage to the tigers.

The chirping of birds and also the sight of both one-horned rhinoceros remains invisibly in my head from this safari. A year and a half after, I planned another trip to Northeast India and this moment, I decided to stop by Meghalaya.
Meghalaya – Cherrapunjee Living Root Bridges’ Trek
Although Mawsynram now holds the record for being the wettest spot on Earth, there was a time in which Cherrapunjee had this differentiation. However, it still holds the record for receiving the highest rainfall in a month and annually. Frequently in weather reports, I'd read about this location. It quite intrigued me concerning how it could feel like to live in a location like this, and always wanted to come here in order to indulge in hiking. In the end, it happened.
This 4 km trail included 2 km of this downhill trek and two kilometres uphill, passing through the village Sohsarat. Our group took nearly three to four hours to finish this journey. About half the distance on this trail featured extreme measures while the other half required us to cross a jungle that resulted in the Living Root Bridge. Because it was not raining on that afternoon, the lushness all around was just a sight to respect.
On the next day, I trekked into the famous Double Decker Root Bridge and Natural Swimming Pools. It was rather a rough trip, using its distance of approximately 20 km, out of which 10 km route was via a scenic valley and a few Khasi villages. It took our group approximately 9 hours to finish this difficult trek, but it had been worth the effort. The pure beauty and the peaceful environment only made it a trek to cherish for quite a very long moment.
After trekking on two of their most popular paths in the state, it had been time for hike to Mawphlang by Lad Mawphlang. This intriguing route is approximately 18 to 20 km and it took our team 6 hours to reach Mawphlang. En route Mawphlang, we crossed several gushing flows, small villages and scenic valleys. While trekking through those terrains, one idea that came to my mind was how adventuresome we may be, however, what really attracts us to such areas is our profound connection with nature.

In my next excursion to this component of the country, I seen Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh yet now I wasn't lonely, my family accompanied me.
Nagaland -- Hornbill Festival -- Truly Festival of Festivals
The plan to visit Nagaland came up when I read about the renowned Hornbill Festival, which will be held every year in the month of December. Hosted in Kisama, that lies about 12 km from the state capital Kohima, from the branches of State Tourism, along with Art & Culture, this festival showcases the culture of the Naga Tribes. This two-bedroom festival witnesses food fairs, sports events, festivals, vibrant performances and traditional crafts exhibition-cum-sale. It was an amazing experience to find a different civilization of India and it left me more proud when I noticed folks coming from all around the world to enjoy the holiday season. We stayed in Nagaland to get only 3 times prior to heading to Arunachal Pradesh.
