That is one hell of a hard question to ask. Because first of all, and in an immediately rage filled answer, Kid would definitely say no to that. he had already made a promise to himself to never lay his hands on a crewmember if he could help it.

The only case in which Kid would fight off someone close to him would be in the unbelievable case of a betrayal. Kid does NOT take being betrayed lightly, and to have it hit him so close to home? It would enrage him like never before as he sought to dispatch the little insurrection as quickly as possible.

But oh, would it wound him far greater than any physical lash he ever received in the aftermath. An alliance betrayal is expected but this? This could break Kid in a way that would change his demeanor forever. Most likely resulting in some major paranoia around his own crew at first, but a divide might always exist there if it is not patched in time.

PEER INTO MY MUSE’S MEMORIES: PART 2

“What, pray tell, are you doing?” Benn Beckman’s arms were crossed as he stared at the fifteen-year-old boy. He was trying to be tough, a deep frown on his face and a cigarette in his mouth. Black hair fell over his shoulder as he watched the young man shove things into his bag. Until this moment, he was sure the red-head thought he was alone, “Are you robbing me?”

The boy - Shanks he said his name was - jumped, turning around, “What? N-No! I thought... I was just putting everything here... in this bag. For... safe... keeping.” 

“You’re a terrible liar.”

“But I’m cute?”

“No,” Benn went over to the boy, taking the bag out of his hands and looking through, “A blanket... a shirt... underwear?” If he was robbing Benn, this was a horrible haul. Unless he was... running away?

“I... don’t have-” Shanks’ cheeks turned a light pink, his gaze down at his feet. Benn’s harsh features softened as he looked at the items and then back at Shanks. 

“I told you that you are allowed to stay here, and I mean it. I have money, we’ll go shopping-”

Shanks began to shake his head violently, “I- I don’t want to go outside.” 

“Because?” The young boy was shaking already, even before speaking and realization hit before Shanks could say another word. “The Marines?”

The head shake turned into a small, embarrassed nod. Benn wasn’t sure when he first noticed the teenager started crying, but the boy’s cheeks were already damp. Benn sighed. Of course he should have realized that finding a traumatized pirate child hiding behind barrels would sign him up for something like this. It was so much more work than he wanted to put into anything, but he couldn’t just kick the kid out of his house. Nor could he let the kid just run away. If he was that scared of the prospect of going out, then running away must have been a terrifying thought. He would have only been planning to run away if... he thought it was necessary. Did the boy have that little self-worth?  

“Give me your sizes. I’ll go shopping for you tomorrow. Tell me what food you like too, you’re too damn skinny. What do kids play with these days? A hula hoop? A pistol?” Benn was being a little bit facetious, but he still had no idea how to take care of a teenager. But here he was with a little scrawny, annoying pirate teen. Just until the kid got back on his feet. Then he’d let the kid go. 

And he’d never see him again. Right?
