Catch your breath!
The past two months have been stressful and exhausting. We have so many roles in life that we need to take into consideration, I’m supposed to be a teacher, a full time student, a part time worker, an older sister, a daughter, a friend, etc. Sometimes the roles collide with one another, which can cause stress. The past few weeks I’ve been working as a teacher (not getting paid as it is a part of my study), which means I’ve also had to work my part time job, at the same time that I’m supposed to prepare for my exams and write my exam essays, be a good friend etc. It came to a point where I just didn’t have any more to give. There was no energy left and I got sick. I literally told my friend “I barely have time to catch my breath, let alone sleep and eat”. This made me think of a Norwegian idiom “pust i bakken”, which basically means “take a moment to catch your breath while walking uphill”. It made me think. Why not make the time? If i really needed it, which I clearly did.
Taking breaks, as needed, made everything better in the long run and it made me perform better in all my roles. Overexertion got me nowhere but to a dark place. But I have most definitely learned. Read a book for fun, watch a show on Netflix, go for a walk in the park, simply log off internet for a few hours and do some yoga, do whatever makes you relaxed and happy! Because remember, it’s okey to take a break when you need it. :)
Have a good day!
