Enjoy delicious and fuss-free sugar cookies that hold their shape and don't spread during baking. Perfect for decorating and sharing!
Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
Instructions: Turn on your oven and heat it up to 375F 190C. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium-sized bowl using a whisk. Melt the butter and mix it with the sugar in a large bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix them in well. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients one at a time until a dough forms. Form each piece of dough into a disc, cover it with plastic wrap, and put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes. If you want the dough to be about 1/4 inch thick, roll it out on a floured surface. Use cookie cutters to make shapes, then put them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. After the oven is hot, bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. Let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before moving them to a wire rack to cool all the way. After the cookies have cooled, you can decorate them with icing, sprinkles, or other things you like.
