Hi, just wanted to say thanks for your response on the supplements post. I feel like the discussion around alternative medicine stuff is lacking in nuance? A lot of people are navigating stuff that can require other solutions, plus the implying people are "stupid" for using it is uhhh not great. Safety is important, but I wish people would consider situations where that's the better choice (example: I can't take motrin at all but some herbal supplements have been great for managing cramps). 👍
I get frustrated with a lot of debate that lacks nuance. Like, yes, fraudulent supplements exist, we’ve had issues with them, but “some supplements are fraudulent” does not translate to “If it is a supplement it must be snake oil.”Yes, there’s a whole lotta bullshit out there, and the placebo effect exists, so we tend to do a trial/withdraw/retry method when something seems to be working.
