something the transgender community rarely talks about is individuals with unusual chest sizes and the troubles they have with binding. No i dont mean a D or DD cup breast size those are actually exceedingly normal at least in the U.S. Im talking about Unusual chest sizes like L cup or M cup breasts and bigger its rarely talked about because its unusual im sure. It still annoys the living shit out of me when transmeds and truscum make it out that its because im Not Trans™ because I can’t bind my chest in a way that makes me pass in fact I get more chest dysphoria by my chest not looking flat in any way shape or form when im desperately trying to have a flat chest then i do by just not giving a shit and not binding Another problem with it is that people who make binders dont seem to accommodate larger chested people properly before you go running to your keyboards to tell me about gc2b or shapeshifters ect ect hear me out. my binder is a gc2b binder it has been run through all the specifications for a binder in my size and because of my chest only; which is the important part of the measurement process. It comes out as a 4xl which isnt taking into account the rest of my body im a 2x literally everywhere else and the compression isnt high enough to make a significant flatness in my chest in fact it gives me like 3 inches of extra breast tissue even when flattened(if you can even call it that honestly) and significant cleavage despite my rearranging for it to not do that. anyone who says that an afab person with a larger unusually sized chest isnt trans because they dont bind can take my boot up their ass they have no idea what someone else is going through and their own journey and what effects them. so they can fuck off having a disproportionately large chest while trans is a fucking nightmare but it should be talked about more in the transgender community

I start uni next month and im planning on transitioning during uni. Im not sure how to ask for a name change on registers/id or how to start medical transitioning on the nhs. Im also worried since i plan on going by my chosen name exclusively but cannot bind (im DD+ therefore cannot pass). do you have any advice? im going to coventry if thats any relevance

I’d suggest getting in touch with the university’s LGBT society in the first instance, as they will probably be able to give you information that’s most relevant to your university/situation (e.g. who to contact about updating your details). They advise getting in touch with them via email or facebook message for the quickest response.

As far as medical transition goes, we have a general guide to that here which will hopefully be a helpful starting point.

Finally, on the subject of socially transitioning whilst unable to bind/not being read as male, I think people have all sorts of experiences of that so I’ll put that issue out to our followers, as I’m sure lots of them will have suggestions.
