  Apco tech Dave in Diamond Bar Ca. and Walnut Ca.(http://onlywire.com/r/65203406  ) repairing a dishwasher that won't drain. This unit is a GE appliance, so he first checked the air gap on top of sink to see if it was clogged but was not. The drain motor was working fine so he proceeded to take apart the dishwasher filter cover inside the machine. When he removed the cover, there was a bunch of food that came floating up to the surface. He pulled out the food from sump area, which, in the picture is the opening behind the center spray ARM. He cleaned the rest of the particules out of the sump screen and the unit is now draining fine. Note: dishwashers do not have built-in garbage disposals.
