fuck your flat fish friday
Do you notice anything unusual about the cleanerfish pictured above? How about the fact that this is not a cleanerfish at all but a species of combtooth blenny called a false cleanerfish? These fish are able to not just mimic the appearence of bluestreak cleaner wrasse but the behaviour of them, copying their inviting 'dance' in order to lure in the cleanerfish's clients before attempting to bite a chunk out of its victim's fin. While this aggressive mimicry is not effective on adults that frequently visit cleaners and can tell false cleanerfish from real ones, it's often very effective on more gullible fish such as juveniles and inexperienced adults.
However, some scientists believe this mimicry is not solely for feeding purposes. In fact, false cleanerfish may be one of a few species that mimic the appearance of cleanerfish to exploit the fact that predators will not eat cleaners in order to avoid predation themselves.
Sharks but like. Not
The leopard slugs are finally out for the year!!! I've missed them so much :') this one's just a baby, so I'm able to watch it grow! Does anyone have name suggestions?
Fun fact: These guys are really invasive in my state. I'm doing nature a favor by taking some of them in for their lifespan, so they can't lay more eggs in the wild! I don't have the heart to squish an innocent little guy :<

Teeth are such a scam.
Something is hard to tear? Try eating it sideways, because there is a popular idea that the molars, the Big Teeth in the back, will help best.
BUT NO, IT IS NOT SO.
The front teeth do it best. The Flat Teeth can tear apart meat and greens best. Why? BECAUSE WE ARE DINOSAURS. Like brontosaurus! The flat teeth are meant to tear apart food for easier chewing. That’s why they’re in the front!
The propaganda is that the molars can tear apart anything. No. The molars are grinders that break down The Chunks. The Flat Teeth are sharper than you think. They will tear off a green thing as well as a strip of meat.
Teeth propaganda has confused the people on how to use their teeth.
