People have been calling South of Midnight "woke" and "DEI". I just looked into it.

From what I've seen so far, it's not woke or DEI.

Calling it woke or DEI implies that the protagonist was raceswapped or genderbent.

She's not. She's just a protagonist who happens to be a woman of color.

That's it.

The gameplay looks pretty good actually, even if it's a little cutscene heavy at the beginning. I might just pick it up myself.

No spoilers, but it was painful to watch. The crap that flew in the 90s does not work in 2021.

Some complaints were that the show was too "woke." No it wasn't. It was the absolute opposite of woke...that's why it was painful and cringy to watch.
