I am confused and am hoping you can clear something up. House Velaryon/Valeryon - are they related to the Targaryen's? Just saw you posted that Velaryon has beautiful dragons... I thought ONLY the Targaryen's were able to have dragons?

These are literally the best kinds of asks, anon! Thank you so much. The brief answer is that all of the Velaryons (so far) who can ride dragons have a Targaryen parent.

Laena's and Laenor's mother is Rhaenys Targaryen (married to Corlys Velaryon). Baela's and Rhaena's father is Daemon Targaryen (also because of Targaryen weirdness, their grandmother is Rhaenys). I know they aren't technically House Velaryon but they are descendants.

Laena claimed Vhagar, Leanor has Seasmoke, Rhaena rides Morning, and Baela will eventually ride Moondancer.

Unfortunately, they are all related to each other in House of the Dragon but it's important to note that House Velaryon claims to have come to Westeros from Old Valyria before the Targaryens. From canon they did not have dragons in Valyria and only their house "stories" (myths) say that they came to Westeros first.

So when I say they have beautiful dragons I mean the current dragonriders of Velaryon descent. Seasmoke in episode 3 is one of my favorites and is just a lovely creature.

House Velaryon is spelled e before a. The tags are divided with the misspelling "Valeryon" and that annoys me.

Why aren't there more posts under either tag?

House Velaryon is dope and undervalued. Their dragons are gorgeous, they get to live near the ocean, and have beautiful house colors.
