In light of s4, i fully believe you were right

Maybe. I think my meta was far too optimistic for what we eventually got though. Sure, they gave us the S4 plot in the Victorian version and they tried to baffle the fans and trick the hardcores but, also, now I think the most important reason they made TAB was to test the waters about their idea: a ghostly sister seeking for revenge, snarky but good Mary working for Mycroft, not case oriented, a mess of a plot, drugs, going back into past memories, “about women”. Which shows they were unsure of their idea.

And they added Moriarty and Johnlock just for the confusion and the fan service, apparently oblivious to the fact that Moriarty and the Sherlock - John pair chemistry is 90% what makes this show.

I guess the lower ratings of TAB should have alarmed them but nah... They ditched the aforementioned features of success and kept the rest! In many ways, TAB is technically as bad as S4. What makes it look superficially better is the acting, the classic Victorian background, Moriarty, John and Sherlock. Take these out and it’s a mix of TST, TLD and TFP. Many bad choices were made lately by Moftiss.

Now what I am curious about is: Since they were most likely not very confident about  their idea and needed to make an exclusive episode to test it, does this mean that the whole Eurus story was mostly conceived after HLV? If this is the case, does this mean that they had another plan for the story until they had to switch to the Eurus Back Up Plan for some reason? I really wish we could tell.

I don’t know what you think of S4 or if you agree with this, but that’s my updated opinion on TAB!

Love the video : ) made me want to try watching BB again (I was younger than the intended audience when i first watched it, i think)

@not-a-bit-good Thank you! If I can convince even one person to give BB another shot, I’ve done my job. That said, I definitely think that viewing it as an adult will give you a new appreciation of it than you would’ve had as a kid, due to some of the darker themes that would go right over the heads of a lot of the intended audience.
