So my sister and I just found out that our landlord died in the hospital yesterday.

The news came at us completely out of the blue.

He was such a nice guy! And not that old. He let us paint the appartment whatever colors we wanted, and he loved our cat Mayhew.

We're both kind of in shock.

More fool me for thinking we'd get out of this winter season without something awful happening.

I'm just... yeah.

That's so wild to me! Scrambled eggs are the 1st thing I learned to make as a wee baby. What was the first food you learned??

never really learned anything until i moved out at 20, my dad worked a lot so he didnt teach me cooking + my mum was never a fan of cooking so we had things like salad + bread + pasta growing up. we also didn't have an oven until i was about 14/15, which looking back was very weird bc we were never short of money, food was just never a priority in that house. like we had a microwave + that was basically it. altho my mum did cook me eggs in the microwave!! lol

like i started making my own food at about 14/15 but it was literally just salad + some random carb, i didn't cook my own pasta until my late teens, have still never cooked meat. have still never cooked rice!

then by the time i moved out i had developed such bad fear of contamination / food problems generally that i was too afraid to cook an egg. it has taken another 10y since moving out to cook an egg!! lol :( embarrassing
