Notan paper art involves removing shapes from a square and arranging them around the edges. I thought I'd try it with comic panels since they're already squares containing shapes.

Hello, I wanted y’all opinion on if I should start doing detentionaire fan art since I like drawing. Plus it would give me the chance to be the first one to give my glorious king (Dickie Andrews 😋) a fan art.

i did a "Notan" expanded square paper cutout project, which was tedious but a lot of fun. I'm especially proud of the facial proportions, because i just eyeballed whether i thought it would look right after flipped or not, and it turned out better than I'd hoped!

the second piece is a sketch of Hozier, because why not

and the third is some in-class practice using charcoal for pretty much the first time. i used both subtractive and additive methods to draw a pepper

realism pieces are almost becoming a comfort to me with how much I'm struggling with my regular art style lately. it feels like something i can fall back on, since it's more objective

but I'm making progress on my style, slowly!

also: this weekend when i visit home from college, I'm finally going to turn my signature into a rubber stamp! I've been hand-drawing it on my pieces, and it sucks. I've had some classmates compliment it, though, and say that they thought it already was a stamp, which is very flattering

I'll have to hand draw it or sign my name normally on complete pieces with no border, to avoid getting ink all over the actual piece, but that's okay
