Reflections on Adulting
There are moments that I wish I could have someone make all of the scary, life altering choices for me, and I could be free to play in the grass and color and take napps in the afternoon; then I realize how much I would miss.
It is most definitely easier to stick my head under my pillow and pretend I’m still asleep. But I don’t want easy.. I want adventure. I want pain and sorrow, so that I can more deeply appreciate the good and lovely in my life. I want the scary-excited butterflies from sitting at the top of a rollercoaster, and from the signing of the papers to buy my first home.
Yes, the responsibilities of becoming more mature can suck, but in the words of my Husband, “Life is a video game.” I want to gain as much XP and unlock as many achievements as I can. I am blessed that my Player 2 (Husband-man) is such a kick-ass man, that our families are so wonderful to each other that our son is going to grow up in a “village” like I have always wanted for my children. What better people to join me on my Quest to conquer Life than my awesome family, one-of-a-kind friends, and my King (read:husband) and Prince (read:son)?
I have days that I know I totally fail at adulting, but those are the days I toss up to not having enough XP for that encounter, and I learn what I can from them. Because really, who doesn’t go back to a previous Save and re-do when they make the wrong move?
