What’s an important lesson your muse has learned over the past few years and how has that changed the way they live?
Sano’slearned that he doesn’t have to harden his heart to be strong. That strengthcomes in different forms. He had believed that sealing the most human side ofhimself was bad, that it would distract him from his mission of avenging hiscaptain. When he had been defeated by Kenshin, he realized that the revolutionwas still going on in the minds and hearts of people. This helped thaw hisheart. It wasn’t until he met Megumi, saw her conflicts, did the walls on hisheart finally fall away. It’s because of this he’s the man he is today.
How does the time your muse lives in influence their lifestyle? Are they happy they’re born in their time, or do they fantasise about a different era?
Sano wishes he lived in a time where everyone had equalopportunities. He has a unique situation, being from the lower classes and, when the old government was destroyed, the Meiji Government taking its place, Sano was given opportunities he didn’t have before. However, the legal transition was quicker than the change in mindsets in the people. There was so much chaos during the war, then after, he was free to go where he wanted without getting into too much trouble. He only wishes that he lived in a more stable era, maybe a few years later, so that way Akiko and his and Megumi’s unborn child could have better opportunities.
Does your muse focus mainly on one long term goal or multiple short term ones? What do they think about the reachability of their goals and what are they?
Sano focuses on one thing at a time, and mostly long term goals. Growing up, he kept the sole goal of avenging the Sekihotai in his mind for ten years. Now, he strives to provide the best life possible for his family. He thinks, as long as he stays focused and does his best, the goal can be reached.
Does your muse have any irrational fears that hold them back in life? Do they come from experience (trauma) or is it, for instance, part of a belief system they have?
Sano fears about losing those that he’s close to. When he was young, he lost the man he admired the most, and then, had to leave behind someone he looked up to just as much. Now that he’s surrounded by friends and family, making peace with his fears, they don’t haunt him as much as they had.
What prominent habits does your muse have and how would they respond if they were forced to change them? Are they adaptable or dependent on their routines?
Sano is used to running his hand through his hair, speaking informally, and wearing his Sekihotai bandana nearly every moment. He would try to speak more formal if he has to, but he wouldn’t like it. It would be difficult to stop himself from running his hand in his hair, and, above all else, he would refuse to take the bandana off. His only exception to this is if Akiko wanted to play with it.
What skills does your muse have and how did they come to have them? Was it hard work to learn them? What do they use their skills for? Are there any skills your muse wishes they had?
Sano’s semi-skilled with swordsmanship, mainly because of Captain Sagara and Souji teaching him when he was younger. However, he lost some of what he learned when he began to use a zanbato, because it can only be swung one of two ways. He mastered the basics of the Futae no Kiwami in a week, though the intense training nearly killed him. As for other skills, he’s good at building things, because of his time in construction. He wishes he was better at reading and writing, so he could provide for his family better.
How concerned are they with their appearance and how do they regard the appearance of others? Do they find it important? Do they enjoy aesthetically pleasing people?
Sano isn’t concerned about how he looks, honestly. He still looks like a punk with his hairstyle and clothing, and he accepts it. By having this appearance, he knows that it will keep those that may want to harm his family away from them. Also, because of the way he looks, he tends to give others the benefit of the doubt, no matter how they appear. To him, it doesn’t matter what you wear or how you look like on the outside. It’s how you act that counts.
