This Q&A, a new last-page feature for the guide highlighting Austinites outside of the beer industry, was supposed to be in our Summerish issue, but we couldn’t get it in in time. We’ve been meaning to post it for awhile, but you know things were busy I guess. What better time than Christmas though? Everyone is online today. Look forward to more of these in the future, hopefully in print.

ABG: Do you have a favorite Austin beer? If not, which one do you at least look best holding? Bill: recently i’ve been diagnosed as gluten intolerant. has put a crimp in my ipa love affair. but i found out austin beer works beers are gf. they don’t advertise it tho. so i like austin beer works ipa. when i could drink gluten — jester king was king.   Favorite Austin bar? i liked the horseshoe lounge.  when is it moving to new location?! Besides writing and recording your new album, what have you been doing to fill your days during the pandemic? (As fellow husbands and dads, any family man tips to pass the days?) well, it was written and recorded before the pandemic. outside activity is best — the pools were open for awhile! now you have to find some natural swimming hole. While we’ve seen you at the Mohawk and you most recently played at Scholz Garten,  we have more often seen you perform at churches, libraries, a resort and dark rooms during SXSW. Do you approach a bar or club show differently? Does it take more to command the room?   some venues have pre-arranged behavior schematics. it’s fun to play in a place that doesn’t ordain the response. living in austin has made me explore alternate venues more than other cities. bar/club shows — people can take them for granted because they all can look/feel alike if you don’t pay attention. Brewery collaborations are so hot right now. Anyone, local or not, you’d want to release a collab with? i heard there is a “dress sexy at my funeral” stout that a british brewer brews. but they never said a word about it to me. if i could do a collab i would convince jester king to make a gluten free ipa. Transport yourself to a non-COVID world, your next show can be anywhere in Austin, no rules. Where is it? on the grounds of the state capital.
