What's your canon on rouge/feral cat stealthing? Do you think all rogues could be able to use magic to become Shadow walkers, or do you think that sort of power is only granted to Trolls by the Loa? Do you think normal stealth uses any sort of "shadow magic", or are they just hiding in dark places?
I always kinda thought of it as hiding in dark places. Maybe some races use a type of magic, while others use tricks of the eye, enchantments, or even potions. Seems like just about anything goes in the realm of fantasy, so I wouldn’t say it’s too out of the question to say enchantments/potions are a way to achieve stealth.
It probably all depends on each individual, of course — their preferred methods, their capacity to learn other methods, how skilled they are with the ones they already employ, etc.
As far as rogues go, anyway.
For druid cats? Pfft, that’s easy. Real cats are stealthy as shit. Not mine, mind you, because they’re all incompetent shitlords WHO JUST LET MICE RUN AWAY UNSCATHED but hey, just take a look at the big cats of the wild! They have all means of being sneaky!
