“The weather sure is shit.” Shin slips his hands in his pockets as he sighs, waiting for that green running man to show up so he can cross the street. Still, Wonyang was better than Seoul. There was no chance for him to bump into people he knows or rather, the people who once knew him. Even he doesn't know who he really is, so did it even matter? His head was up in the cloud and he knows sooner or later, the heavy rain will fall. A sigh, an empty mind and a street he has to cross.
Lifting his gaze from the ground to the crowd across the street. He sees a face. A face so familiar that he can feel her touch against his skin. Her words of I love you that he couldn't bring himself to reply to. That sad look on her face that he knows so well because to be honest, Shin knew that he brought her nothing but sadness when they stood too close to each other. Now even the world was making sure they stay apart. Her name stays at the tip of his tongue and his heart was pounding, pleading that he calls her name. For once, he should be the one to say her name. But no, his brain screams no. No more. He's not the man that's worthy of her love and attention. Never again, will they be lovers or anything more than two strangers waiting to cross the street.
The green running man appears and Shin hesitates on taking a step. Any step closer to her and he might just lose everything he built to protect himself. Thickly swallowing his own fears, he puts on that mask he's so used to having, he can't tell his own face from it anymore. The asshole that he is, was not something he wanted to be. This is what the society created. Not him.
One step, then two.
Closer than ever. He averts his eyes elsewhere like he didn't see her.
He really wishes that he didn't.
