Two sides of UNO: Park Eunho x Nam Shin !
@wyjihan
Not everyone knows that Shin is a smart kid. People often thought Shin was the kind of student who was doomed to fail since all he seemed to care about was Quidditch but based on the school ranking, he was around the above average cut, which was surprising for most students and professors who often sent Shin to detention for disrupting classes (for flirting in class and fooling around with his friends) and just being your typical star wannabe in class. He was bored and just munching on some fruit strips given to him by some female student from Hufflepuff when he sees the Ilvermorny professor.
Shin, being his annoyingly confident self was quick to get to his feet. Rushed yet confident steps lead him towards the professor, to whom, he smiles politely to but he lacked manners or well, as he says, he chooses to not show them too much as he wished to be seen friendly and easy to be approached.
“Professor! Good day! I’m Nam Shin of House Gryffindor.” He greets the other male. “I've heard from some of your students that you're teaching Defence against the Dark Arts in your school?” Shin's eyebrow raises a bit, he was more than excited to hear about this as the subject was so far, his favorite. “What do you think about Lethifolds and have you ever thought about working on how to spot a Lethifold attack?”
“How do you smile? I want to smile just like you”. “I wish you could give me a big smile too. I’ll make sure you can smile”.

“You're going on a date with a customer?” He asks. “I know there are rules and it's shit, but tell me about this little date of yours. Is she hot? You sure she doesn't have any boyfriend? I wish I could get a date too-” He didn't mean the last part. He barely cared about getting any date and all that. He prefers to stay single for now. Plus, the only thing Shin cares about is two things. The looks and the books. Bank books to be exact. He only cares about the money because he doesn't have much of it. Money was easy before. Conning people was easier than teaching. Surely, he made more money then than now.
Shin leans one elbow on the counter as he watches Deryl fix his drink. “My students are pretty decent. None of them are causing me much trouble and headache, really.” There were mishaps every now and then but it was easy for him to let them slide since they were just students trying to make it through the adulting period in their lives, which most of them are not ready for yet. Even he was not ready for it.
“The kids are better though. They tell me about how their weekend was and listen when I ask them to. Plus, they're not that obsessed with handphones and updating their sns unlike most of my students who are in college and a few of those trying to enter college soon.” Gently tapping his long slender fingers on the counter as he spoke. Shin looks around and takes it all in. This was where he first worked when he came to Wonyang. Now he's here as a customer and having a small chit-chat with Deryl.
“Say, bro. Till when will you be working here?”

“Can you please stop being so mad at me for a second?” Shin tries to stay as calm as he can possibly can but honestly, he wanted to run away from Younghee. She's scary when mad, that's for sure. “I never thought of you like that. You said that yourself. Not me.” He says as he points her. Defensive over his own past mistakes, hurting people who doesn't even deserve it at all. But that's Shin. He needs money more than he needs romance. He needs money to survive. That stupid song that says 'love will keep us alive' is nothing but a lie. Why can't people understand that?
“I got kicked out!” He lies. Shin ALWAYS lies. “I went back to Seoul only to find myself kicked out of my own place. Do you think I'd have the guts to come to you and say, 'Oh, hey babe. I'm staying in wonyang instead. wanna date again?'” The male sighs loudly, eyes were on them as the pair share a past-lovers quarrel at a very public area. Somewhere they shouldn't be at.
“I was embarrassed as a man! You think that didn't crush my pride and my ego? It did!” She was the first one to raise her tone at him so he was just matching hers to be fair. To make himself believable. To seem like he genuinely cared about her. He didn't. She was pretty. He just needed an eye candy and it was late when he learned her bank account was just as bad as his.
“Fine. I'm everything you say I am. I'm the worst. I didn't care for you. Sure. Whatever you say is right, but please, Younghee.. let's go somewhere warm. I don't want you to get sick.” A sigh escapes him as he stood there. She's right. She really IS what she said he is. There's no lie and he didn't deny it one bit. Did it affect him? No. Because he knows he is nothing but a wreck and no one can ever fix him. Not even himself.
“Did you really have to be so heartless?” Shin lowers his head, his words nicely calculated. “Fine. You hate me. I understand why.” He says calmly, rubbing the back of his head like this whole thing affected him more than it should. “But even if you do.. please take care of yourself.”
The male shrugs. He didn't care anymore whether she did things on purpose or not. It was enough for him to realize that the past seven years they spent together, were spent more with the Lee brothers than just them. She stopped relying on him when Insu showed up. He wanted to be someone Jieun can rely on but he wasn't that kind of man. He was childish and rebellious, but it was his choice to be like this. TO be easy for Jieun to approach him. Instead, this made things easier for her to push her own brother aside. “Yeah, sure.” He comments a little later on. “Aren't you competing with that Ravenclaw prefect?” Shin asks, not that he was nosy but he's seen the list of names of the top students.
Sure, Jieun is one of them and so is he, at a certain point but that's because he's not trying. He barely tries. He focused too much on trying to be a good brother that he's gotten tired of it now. So tired that he's gone cold and quiet in a snap of a finger. A butterfly flapping its wings can surely be heard in his silence. “Nothing. This is who and how I really am. I spent seven years trying to be a brother you can rely on and easily approach. I'm just tired now, Jieun.” He says, slouching on his seat, his eyes were a hue darker than the usual hazel colored ones that they naturally are. “We're half-siblings but did you even ever try to actually get close to me? Because if you did, I didn't feel it. I didn't want to be a brother you'd hate and fear of.”
Shin's eyes met hers and as much as she tells him she doesn't see Insu romantically, Shin has watched the pair grow close over the years and it's not like he's dumb when it comes to feelings. Why else would he always try to sit and get in between them? Surely, Jieun wasn't THAT dense or should he say, dumb? “Tell me, what did you ever do for me?” He asks. “Did you ever notice all the things I've ever done for you or Insu's actions have always weighed more?” She only seemed to care about whatever Insu and Kisung did. More than he did. His own friends were his competition for the sake of Jieun's attention and affection.
“No. You don't know me at all. You've known me for what? Five seconds before you became enamored with the Lee brothers' existence. You're no different from your father. You surely would make him proud.” He laughs waving his hand in front of Jieun. More than that? A brother? Sure. “Oi. Let me borrow your wand for a second.” He tells the student in front of them. Holding the wand in his hands. He eyes it as he spoke. “I'm just tired of being second best in everything. Who said I can't act up and be the worst brother and friend for you three?” Snapping the wand in two in front of her soullessly. “Uh-oh, looks like I'll be in detention.” dropping the broken wand on the table.
“If you and Insu ever happen, forget that we're siblings. I'll have to tell him to forget that we're friends as well.”
FILE 002; NAM SHIN | TASK TWO.
Are they even interested in the Yule Ball? Do they have a partner in mind to ask, or perhaps already invited somebody?
“I asked Min Hanna out to the Yule Ball. It’s better I ask her out than have some random dickhead bring her to the ball and try his luck on her. She’s too good for everyone, quite frankly. I’m interested since it’s my last year here in Hogwarts. It would be a shame”
Is your muse quick to step forward to volunteer to dance? Can they dance well or do they have two left feet? Or are they remained seated, watching everyone from afar?
Shin isn’t the best when it comes to dancing but he’s trying his best. That’s what matters. He’ll definitely ask the lonely girls for a dance but not after making sure it’s okay with his date.
Are butterflies fluttering in their stomach well in advance for the big night or will their confidence guide them?
“Confidence is key to everything. I am confident. Therefore, I’m sure everything will go well.”

Han-na is quick to shake her head, her pale cheeks flushing. She doesn’t know how to deal with boys giving her this kind of attention, especially not older and popular guys like Shin. She trusts him enough because he’s friends with her brothers, but it’s still odd to have him come up to her like this. Despite being fairly close to her older siblings, she’s never really attempted to become a part of their friend group, mostly because she feels like they might be uncomfortable with her around. “You prefer sneaking up on people over Quidditch?” She inquires with a tilt of her head, confusion clearly written on her face.
The girl isn’t too aware of the glances she gets from men. Most students know better than to approach her, even if it’s just because they’re afraid of getting jinxed by the Lee brothers. But Han-na could genuinely use the attention she’s so often denied – she doesn’t really have friends and knows her classmates sometimes make fun of her for her stupid questions and chronic confusion during classes. But she’s not a bad student, things just take slightly longer for her to master and understand. It’s why Creature Care is her favorite subject; it allows her to just take care of magical creatures and not have to worry about the pronunciations of spells.
“Stop,” She mutters with a slight roll of her eyes. “I’m not too good for anyone. I don’t know why you guys keep saying stuff like that. You’re all complete melons.” Han-na sighs, though she can’t hide the redness of her cheeks, her hands moving up to fumble with the ends of her hair.
She’s glad she’s sitting down when the question reaches her ears, her eyes widening even before they settle on the offered candy. “You– What?” She stammers out. It doesn’t happen often that the blonde is at a loss for words, but the very last thing she had expected was for Nam Shin to ask her to be his Yule Ball date. Han-na blinks slowly, looking back and forth between Shin’s face and the jelly beans, brows furrowing slightly. “You make it sound like I want to go to the Yule Ball with one of my brothers.” There’s a hint of playful disgust in her tone, but she can only imagine the embarrassment that would bring.
Her face is positively burning, her hand having stilled where it was in the process of wrapping her hair around her finger. “You’re– Are you serious? Because if this is a joke, it’s a really rude one.” She mutters with a slight pout, her eyes suspiciously scanning the male’s body language.
“I prefer sneaking up on you rather than practicing for Quidditch.” He clearly says. He's a good chaser and he prided himself as being one of the best chasers that Gryffindor has ever had. That was, of course, something that the head of Gryffindor had said upon seeing him play Quidditch. “Clear that cute little ears of yours, jelly bean.” He laughs. Grinning at the female and softly sighing as they sat down. He lifts her hand to politely say 'hello' to those who wave their hands at him but can't approach as he is with someone at the moment.
“They say one does not see their own beauty, that's why you say differently than we do. Like a butterfly. They don't know how enchanting their colors are for they do not see their wings.” He then taps her nose, smiling ever so fondly at the younger female. She was someone that always seemed to need protection. Shin took the liberty of watching over Hanna when Insu and Kisung weren't around to watch over their little sister, because his own sister didn't need protecting or him. She was too independent and no boys would dare come close unless they wanted to be murdered.
“Stop thinking you're not good enough. You're TOO good for someone. There might come a day when someone tells you that you're not good enough and you'd believe them. I don't want that. I want you to believe in me at least if you don't want to believe your brothers.” He pauses, staring at her. “You're good enough. I want you to pride yourself in knowing you're worthy. You're more than what you think you are.” Shin tells her in all honesty. No need to lie over something like that. Hanna was a kind soul and a pretty young woman who deserves to see and learn how to accept that she's more than just who and what she thinks she is.
“At this rate, you might end up going with four of us to the Yule Ball. Do you think they won't threaten anyone you say yes to? Trust me. I've known them since we've stepped foot in Hogwarts.” The boys all belonged in the same year, the same house, quidditch team and they shared a special bond of, well, having the same wands. “How serious do I need to be for you to take me seriously?” Shin asks, raising an eyebrow then he realized. Most girls love the theatrics. They loved being the center of attention and feeling like they're the center of the man's universe. So Shin stands up, holding the bag of jelly beans at hand.
“Min Hanna!” He shouts, his voice clear and grabbing everyone's attention. Shin then kneels before Hanna. “Will you PLEASE go to The Yule Ball with me?!” He keeps his voice loud and clear so everyone would know that he asked Hanna out. If she said yes, then it would be a slap on everyone else's faces. All those who laughed at her would drop their jaws. And if she were to ever turn him down, then, she'd be the talk of the school and everyone else would take her a bit more seriously. “Is this serious enough for you?”

Han-na lets out a soft shriek when an arm is thrown around her shoulder and she automatically spins around to face her attacker. Her cheeks burn a deep red once she acknowledges her company’s identity – though she isn’t generally a shy person, this is Nam Shin. It’s no secret that half the castle would want to be in her shoes right now. She’s not one of those boycrazy girls, but she definitely knows a pretty face when she sees one and the male by her side has a tendency of turning her into a bit of a blabbering mess. Well, more than she already tends to be.
She can’t help but purse her lips when he calls her ‘kiddo’, however. Despite generally acting very young for her age and being a very affectionate and clingy person (not to mention her dependency on her brothers), Han-na doesn’t like being treated as a child. She pointedly ignores his question about food and instead pushes her lips back up into a smile, determined not to show that anything is wrong or that him poking her cheek is making her uncomfortable.
It’s a little surprising and confusing to her that Shin wants to hang out with her of all people, but it makes her happy enough about it. “Why did they take your sister?” She inquires with a curious tilt of her head, a slight skip in her step as she walks with him towards the courtyard. “I hope they’re actually busy and not lurking around. I swear they hexed me so they can swoop in the second a boy tries to ask me to the Yule Ball. They’re being big meanies.”
He liked to tease Hanna for some reason. It was obvious that she didn't like the certain nickname he calls her with but her expression is just cute that he can't help but do it every now and then. “Am I being too touchy?” Shin asks, not wanting her to be awkward with him because he can't keep his hands to himself. He's naturally touchy especially with his friends. He'd tease them every now and then that he's into them but of course, cute girls like Hanna are his actual choice.
“Ah, you know they like practicing for Quidditch and stuff. I very much prefer sneaking up on you on the hallway though.” Playfully winking at her as he laughs. They walk side by side with each other and he could swear that Hanna's admirers have just taken a few steps back. Away from them. Why not? They can't level up with Shin, for one. Two is that, Shin is friends with Hanna's brothers and he'd definitely turn down the boys on her behalf for fun.
“I'm not letting anyone take you to the Yule Ball either.” He says. “You're too good for anyone here. Even for me.” Shin says, smiling and guiding her towards a good spot where they can sit and just talk. The huge arches were a good place to occupy. They can enjoy the sight of the students playing at the courtyard and the people passing by the hallway as well.
“Why don't you just go out with me to the Yule Ball then? Surely they can't get in the way right now since they're not around.” He says. Taking out the flavored jelly beans with a cute ribbon on it. “They can trust me with you and watch us all night if they want.” Shin chuckles, presenting the jelly beans to her like a gentleman. “So, what do you say? Wanna go to the Yule Ball with me? I know I'm no Quidditch Captain like your brother Insu or not as good looking as Kisung. But if you'll have me as your date, I promise I'll get you the prettiest flowers I can find that can and will match up to your beauty.”

Seated at the hallway, Shin watches people pass him by. He wasn't waiting for anyone in particular but he was waiting for something fun to happen instead. Hogwarts was hosting the Triwizard event this year and of course, it was interesting to watch the girls from the other schools blending in with them. Shin then spots a blonde female that he knows better than other girls but less than his sister. But it was enough to have a smile creep up on his lips. Dusting his robe, he skips and follows the female from behind before surprising her. Grabbing her by the shoulders and laughing it off.
“I got cha!” He laughs, throwing an arm over Hanna's shoulder. “Sorry, I didn't mean to spook you, cutie pie.” He teases. Obviously, Shin was fooling around with Hanna. Flirting with her. It was harmless because it was friendly and maybe in a way, it was a sort of revenge on Insu, Kisung and Jieun. But that's a story he'd never tell Hanna. She's just too pure. Such a kind soul he'd love to taint, but as Insu and Kisung's true friend. He'd not risk such thing.
“How are you, kiddo? Did you eat already?” Poking her cheek gently as they walk together. Ignoring the gazes of other students. He didn't care what they have to say. He's gonna stick around with Hanna for a while. “Wanna sit with me in the courtyard and just hang out for a while?” Shin asks, not wanting to force Hanna to spend time with him but then again her brother is with his sister somewhere around school for sure.
“Your brothers ditched me and took my sister away so I'm pretty lonely.”
He sat in silence that even his newfound silence disturbs him. In a way, Jieun was favored by his father more. He had to listen to their father tell him on how he should take care of Jieun at school and so on, forgetting completely that he too, is his child. He does what he's asked. Even his mother told him to take care of Jieun for she holds no guilt over everything that happens. But to take care of the person that is a constant reminder of why his mother was hurting was something he had to deal with seven years.
Finally, Jieun comes around. Sitting next to him. Shin has a book out already, reading through the paragraphs in silence when she tries to break his silence. He simply puts down his book and goes through his stuff to take out the notes he got from his admirers from the certain house where the whole thing about becoming the best in academics is their thing.
“If there's anyone who'd bully people for these notes, it would be you. Not me.” He slides them towards her. “I know you're obsessed with trying to be number one in Professor Bang's class.” Under the small pile of notes was a notebook filled with notes for the Potions. Shin didn't really care about it. He can get by just easily. There's nothing wrong not wanting more than one can have, he believes. He doesn't glance at her as he tries to assure him she cares about him. Over the years, he felt like he's losing his sister to his own friends. It was a constant fight for her attention. It was fun but it was exhausting at one point, knowing she'd pick Insu any time of the day. How he wishes he took care of her better during their first year. So she has no one else to rely on to but him. Just him. No one else.
“Not sure.” Shin replies. Emotionless. He was always smiling, laughing and fooling around. Even during Quidditch training and the matches between houses, he was always just smiling happily like a fool. As if nothing else matters to him. But then, there were those times when he was just like an emotionless robot that doesn't seem to know what it is like to be human at all. This is one of those moments. He doesn't even seem to care that his sister was there. He often acts intimidated by her 'attitude' and pleading for her to understand that he didn't mean to mess with her. But Shin is his father's son. He can be just as cold as their father and not giving one cent about everything else while carrying on with his duties. Shin rests his elbows on the desk and carries on reading the book before him.
“As far as I know you only care about Insu, I wouldn't be surprised if you end up liking him. Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy. But I'm telling you that you and Insu can't happen, Jieun.” Finally, he glances over to his sister. His gaze is empty. “Unless you're willing to risk our relationship as siblings.” A smirk follows. “Oh, I forgot. You don't care about me as your brother anymore since you met Insu and Kisung.”
