Hi! Which brands of notebooks do you use? :) they look really pretty

I use a few different brands:

Moleskine grid softcover - this is my personal journal, and I love it. Great quality and works really well for all the stuff I put in it. Minimalist and functional, main downside is price. 

Paperage dotted journal - this is my bullet journal. It’s very cheap, and decent quality for the price, but it’s only on Amazon. 

Lemome eco-notebook - this is my art journal. It’s made of cork and isn’t perfectly eco-friendly (and it’s also only on Amazon), but it is a great notebook for bullet journaling and such. 

Dingbats earth journal - this is my writing journal. It’s my favourite so far I think- really great quality and while dingbats isn’t a perfect company, they do use vegan leather on their covers, reduce some of their production waste, and donate to WWF-UK (also not a perfect organisation, but hey).

I also highly recommend making your own recycled journal! They can be super cute and useful while also reusing old materials.

What journals / notebooks do you recommend?

Hi!! I highly recommend:- the blue campus notebooks by kokuyo i’ve ran through 2 notebooks for my bujo and they’ve been great. I use the notebooks for school too and it’s been amazing, i highly recommend this notebook, it’s my absolute favorite!

- muji’s plastic ring file + dividers + paper with grid/grid dotted paper i love muji’s papers, but i don’t quite like the notebooks because there’s too little pages in my opinion, but the newest ring system that I have is pretty nifty. I don’t recommend a double ringed file though (the pages keep escaping because their double punched holes are abnormally wider than their rings- so i’m using a file fastener to keep them together) so try and get the multiple ringed files. I love this system because I’m very bad at spacing my pages, so with this system I can arrange what goes where very easily, and choose which papers to bring if the file gets too thick (I use A5 for my bujo and B5 for my school notes). i’ve been told that the recycled paper file material splits open very easily so i use the plastic one (which is really good so far- i don’t have much complaints)

- any notebook you can findi actually don’t really bother with what notebook i use. normally because as long as the papers are great (quality and quantity) and they’re small but big enough to travel with, no matter how ugly the cover is (because you can always decorate it), they’re good to go. don’t spend so much money on a branded notebook. notebooks are places where you should be okay with making mistakes, jotting down your feelings, okay with wrecking etc. if you want to invest in a good notebook, i recommend you only do so for a planner/bujo/diary, and only for the sole purpose that this will motivate you/make you happy/add to your emotional attachment - but again, there are many good quality and cheap notebooks out there.

please never feel obligated to buy expensives notebooks ! notebooks and journals (bujos) should be there to help you and to bring you happiness/some ground to your life ^^ and as previously mentioned, it’s totally okay to spend a bit more on notebooks and journals (everyone has different things that they don’t mind spending money on and if school supplies are it for you, then by all means buy it!)

My god! I love the note pad you used for ur notes (with all the light coloured dots) is it a brand and where do you get them?

Hullo!! That notepad is a 8.25x12.5 Rhodia Dot Pad! I got it from Amazon, here. I dotted paper and the quality of this notebook is great so 10/10 would recommend!! It is slightly expensive though.

Note: There’s a smaller pad too but I personally think it was too small. Also, it’s since it’s vertical but not spiral, it’s actually kind of hard to use the other side of the pages unless you tear them out.

Okay, your blog rocks! I've been going through it, and it's so great, and I love your post about all the things you can do with notebooks. I have a question though - What kind of notebook do you recommend for a daily planner type thing?

I’ve cycled through a few different daily planner options in the past few years…when I was in middle/high school, I used school planners with the different sections for different classes. In college, I started using page-a-day planners which I LOVE. I like having space to write down events, assignments, due dates, to-do lists, and notes…so planners that show a whole week over a two-page spread don’t have enough room to suit my purposes.

I’ve used two page-a-day planners that I really loved — one Quo Vadis, one Moleskine.

1. The Quo Vadis Textagenda

It doesn’t look very pretty in this picture (a little glaring, actually), but I used it for two years and it was PERFECT. It has those little rip-away tabs in the bottom corner so you can always find what day you’re on. It has a reference section. It comes with that blue cover you can see around the edges which is removable, so after you buy the first one you only need to order a new insert book for each calendar year.

It’s about the size of a small book — very convenient and easy to slip in a bag. It lies flat. The pages make pleasant crinkly sounds when you turn them (I love that).

I only stopped using the TEXTAGENDA because I found a Moleskine page-a-day Han Solo themed planner. Which I think is reasonable.

2. Moleskine 12 Month Daily Planner

These guys are even tinier than the TEXTAGENDA. Little pocket sized daily planners that are thick but admirably sturdy. And some of them come with cute themes. (Like Star Wars.)

They sell daily AND weekly planners, if that’s your thing — the bigger one is weekly, small one is daily.

There’s a lot of room to write and plenty of space to customize it by drawing lines or divides or splitting up the page however you want.

3. The Hobonichi Techo

I’ve never actually used the Hobonichi Techo before — but I do reblog pictures of it and I’ve been coveting one for some time. Lots of people decorate their planners with washi tape, drawings, and interesting layouts.
