Beyond The Pages: My Month-Long Adventure Without Novels, And Why You Should Try It Too
If you're someone who, like me, loves reading novels but has started to feel like it's taking over your life, I highly recommend taking a break for a month. It might be difficult at first, but the benefits are worth it. You'll give your brain a chance to rest, explore other forms of entertainment, have more time for other activities, and come back to reading novels with a renewed sense of appreciation.
Taking a break from reading novels doesn't mean you have to stop reading altogether. Instead, you can explore other types of literature, such as non-fiction books, poetry, or short stories. These types of literature can offer different perspectives and can be a refreshing change of pace.
But as much as I love reading, I realized that sometimes it's important to take a break and focus on other aspects of life. That's why I decided to stop reading novels for one month, and here's why you should consider doing the same.
do you feel overwhelmed OF your TBR?

Break the addiction cycle
When you're constantly immersed in fictional worlds, it can be easy to become addicted to the thrill of reading. But addiction, no matter the source, can be detrimental to your mental health and overall well-being. Taking a break from reading novels can help break the cycle of addiction and allow you to regain control of your habits.
Focus on other activities
While reading novels can be a great way to relax and unwind, it's important to balance it with other activities that are just as important for your physical and mental health. Taking a break from reading can give you the opportunity to explore other interests, spend time with loved ones, exercise, or engage in self-care activities that you may have been neglecting.
Refresh your mind and body
Reading novels can be mentally stimulating, but it can also be mentally exhausting if you're constantly immersed in fictional worlds. Taking a break from reading can help refresh your mind and allow you to come back to reading with a renewed sense of appreciation and energy.
When you're constantly reading novels, it can be easy to neglect your relationships with loved ones. Taking a break can give you more time to spend with friends and family, which can help strengthen your relationships and improve your overall well-being.
So, how did my one-month break from reading novels go? Well, at first it was a bit difficult to break the habit of reaching for a book every free moment. But as time went on, I found myself enjoying other activities, such as hiking, painting, and spending time with friends. When the month was over, I felt more refreshed and energized, and ready to dive back into reading with a renewed sense of appreciation.
So why not give it a try and see how it can benefit you?
