The coldest temperature ever recorded in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming was -66°F on February 9, 1933. When temperatures get that cold and there is no wind, water vapor will freeze to things like grasses, trees and rocks. This is known as hoarfrost.

allow yourself to indulge in romantics.  press flowers in old books.  play movies with subtitles and mouth the words.  dance in your room.  wear something that makes you feel good, even if you wouldn’t wear it in public.  write your chosen family letters, even if you hand deliver them.  write poetry, even awful poetry.  revel in its awfulness.  eat dark chocolate and when your chosen family want to go out, try to go out with them sometimes, even if its just to the market.

trail run this morning, my longest distance since I completed my half marathon in September. I feel weirdly excited bc I thought four months of not training more than 6 miles would mean I wouldn't be able to go almost 10 miles again🙄 😂

Snow

bury me in snowflakes I want to feel the weight of the cold as close to the end as we can pretend

the burning rot of my temper assuaged my wanton, insolent thoughts anaesthetized such a relief that I can find such redeeming peace

I give thanks to the feral chill of Winter over water, in ice new paths, opportunity holistic cleanse, but also each year life through a new lens
