Technically they do know the sender at this point, but I didn’t feel like trying to figure out how to draw Carlotta and the managers at 11:30 at night for the idea I had for drawing Notes I.

So there’s this thing about “Notes II/Twisted Every Way” I had never noticed until a few days ago

Right before Christine starts singing “Twisted Every Way”, Raoul tells her “you said yourself he was nothing but a man, yet while he lives he will haunt us ‘til we’re dead”

While he lives

Raoul didn’t just want the Phantom to be arrested or somehow be kept away from them (like I believe Christine did)

He wanted the Phantom dead

I mean, I know it’s pretty obvious (and, for some people, quite reasonable, given everything the Phantom had done until that moment), but I must say I was kind of shocked

Setting aside whether or not I agree with how Raoul as a character handled these crucial moments of the story, I really like how Hadley played this scene. At first glance he may appear to be just flat angry, but Hadley doesn’t play flat characters. Look closer, and you will see not just anger, but anxiety, exasperation, pride, affection, and desperation. I encourage you to rewatch Notes II with a focus on Raoul, as he has quite a few “blink and you’ll miss it” moments! Here are some of my favorite shots of him from the scene, including those above:
