Thought for food, aantekeningen. Uit Notes on creativity.
The Drawing Center's Drawing Papers Volume 110 featuring a conversation between Brett Littman and Ferran Adrià and an essay by Richard Hamilton.
This publication accompanies the first major museum exhibition in the world to focus on the visualization and drawing practices of master chef Ferran Adria. His complex body of work positions the drawing medium as both a philosophical tool--used to organize and convey knowledge, meaning and signification--as well as a physical object--used to synthesize over twenty years of innovation within the kitchen. Emphasizing the role of drawing in Adria's quest to understand creativity, the book features an interview between Ferran Adria and Brett Littman, and also includes a reprint of the artist Richard Hamilton's essay about the relationship of food to contemporary art and Adria's participation in Documenta 12 that first appeared in Food for Thought: Thought for Food (2009).
Ferran Adrià: Notes on Creativity, educatie Marres

A Page from the Drawing Papers Archive
This page from Drawing Papers 110 features work from Ferran Adria’s Notebooks Related to Creativity, created from 1987-2011.
The 2014 exhibition Ferran Adrià: Notes on Creativity was the first major museum exhibition to focus on the visualization and drawing practices of master chef Ferran Adrià. The exhibition emphasized the role of drawing in Adrià’s quest to understand creativity. His complex body of work positioned the medium as both a philosophical tool—used to organize and convey knowledge, meaning, and signification-—as well as a physical object—used to synthesize over twenty years of innovation in the kitchen.
Hundreds of notebooks were filled with concepts, ideas, collaged photographs, and loose sketches for new dishes for elBulli, including this page that charts the development for a caramel coffee cake.
The Drawing Papers are a series of publications documenting The Drawing Center’s exhibitions and public programs and providing a forum for the study of drawing. For more information about Drawing Papers 110, click here.
