US States #4: Alaska - The next USA state tribute with brand new pinup artwork featuring the great state of Alaska, often nicknamed 'North to the Future'. Joined the USA in 1959: While the phrase "North to the Future" honors Alaska as a land of promise, its night skies have looked toward the heavens for centuries to witness the Aurora Borealis, which locals once believed were the spirits of ancestors playing a game of soccer with a walrus skull. During the 1950s, scientists in Fairbanks began some of the first modern high-altitude studies of these "Northern Lights," proving that the frontier’s future was as much in the stars as it was on the ground.
