Rec: This is a quite painful fic set during series 3, full of cruelties both large and small, intentional and inadvertent. I’m not sure I’d go quite as far as saying either John or Sherlock is truly “dark” as the tags suggest, but they are certainly both far from kind. It’s a story of how errors in judgment both past and present combine with a love so all-encompassing that it threatens to overwhelm, creating a perfect storm of dysfunctionality, co-dependence, and desperation. Despite all of that, by the end we are left hopeful and there is a WIP sequel although it hasn’t been updated in several months.
