#2249 - Pseudopanax arboreus - Five Finger
AKA Neopanax arboreus, Nothopanax arboreus, Panax arboreus and Panax australasius, and in Māori puahou or whauwhaupaku
Very different in form from the Lancewoods I've posted before.
A New Zealand native tree belonging to the Ivy family Araliaceae, and one of New Zealand's more common trees, widely found in bush, scrub and gardens throughout both islands.
The common name refers to the five (or seven) leaflets, which are very characteristic of the tree, although there are three related species in the country that are similar in appearence.
