I am grateful for my flawed, but extensive NYC post-secondary education today. I've taken the invitation to think critically for granted. I know many with years of education who are still waiting for the lecturer's prompt to engage and think. Now I know that some folks come to critical consciousness outside of formal education. That's cool. As for me, I've always questioned everything. But really, through all of the psychic trauma I experienced at some of the most Eurocentric, white supremacist institutions, I was able to amass and refine a critical foundation which I carry with me to this day. Now...Imma really need to rely on it for the next 12-18 months because ish is about to get really real. Imma take what I can get and get the heck out of dodge because I like to dig into the soil. Mouth too slick for the bureaucratic dance...especially at this age.
