Hello again you two! We bet you have a lot of exciting news to share to Wanterers all over the world since your Trendsetter Feature earlier this year. What’s new?
Hello to all the Wanterers out there. We've been quite busy since the last time we spoke. In April we took part in a competition in Guangzhou, China called the T-Force Fashion Awards, in which we took home the top prize of best designer. This was really good for us in terms of press across China and really got our name out there.
In June we travelled to Berlin for the launch of the collaboration we did with German shoe giant Deichmann. We were selected along with 4 other designers to design 4 pairs of shoes for their 100th anniversary celebration. And we currently just finished showcasing our new SS14 collection with Fashion Scout in their Paris showroom during Paris Fashion Week.
We see a lot of colors and patterns in your SS14 collection! What was the inspiration behind your latest set of pieces?
The inspiration behind our SS14 collection was from the iconic science fiction novel titled 'The Dandelion Girl" written by American author Robert F. Young. The story involves a middle-aged man who meets a girl half his age who claims to be from 240 years into the future. The title of the collection is 'Symbolic Reverse' and it is designed from the point of view of a 1960's designer making garments in 1961 for the year 2014. The collection is infused with geometric prints and vivid colours that represent the era. Concentrating on the use of new and classical fabrics 'Symbolic Reverse' combines the style of new and old while using silhouettes that are 'far out' even for the 1960's, thus giving the impression of a futuristic 'Flower Power' collection.
You can’t wear a Nova Chiu creation and not get an immediate sense of extra happiness; all the items in the collection really give off a bright and cheerful vibe! What is your favorite piece from the SS14 collection?
We've been told that our label creates a sense of happiness for all who wear and view our garments. I think this is a reflection of who we are as people and as designers.
My favourite piece from this collection has to be the Knee Length Ruffles Dress from Look 1. It has all the qualities that embody our label and looks quite similar to that of an ancient Chinese temple.

Nova has two favourite looks from this collection. The first one is the Embroidered Silk Shirt and matching Trousers from Look 9 and the Gathered Sleeve Crop Top and Embroidered Organza Pencil Skirt from Look 19 (cover photo). Her reason for these choices are that to her, these two looks are a true reflection on the inspiration of this collection.

Among the 12 Fall Trends currently featured on Wantering.com, which one are you most excited about and why?
The current Fall trends that are featured on Wantering are all quite interesting but it's hard to select only one, so I've selected two. I really like the colour Burgundy. It has such a retro feel to it that I can't help thinking back to the days of Mr. Rogers Neighbourhood. My other favourite trend is Baseball Jackets, not only because I like Baseball (Yes, fashion designers can also like sports) but because they look extremely good on women.
What can we expect from you in the next coming months?
After we get back from Paris, we will start work on the new A/W 2014/15 Collection which we will be showcasing in a Paris trade show in January called 'Who's Next'. In November, we will travel back to Germany to present an award at the Deichmann 'ShoeStep' Awards in Hamburg. So we are keeping ourselves busy to say the least.
