Wetter

Stan sits crossed legged on the rug, guitar resting against his thigh, fingers pulling out a low riff. The strings buzzed in the quiet of Chef’s old house, the air thick with dust, wood polish, and the faint echo of memories that didn’t belong to either of them.

Nova leaned against the door frame, her purple streaked hair catching the dim light, nails tapping the wood as she watched him. A smirk tugged at her lips. “Preparing for your next gig?”

Stan glanced up, brow furrowed beneath his shaggy bangs. “Yeah, I’m not really feeling this new song.”

“Maybe you should switch it up.”

Stan raises his eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

“Try a different sound. Test to see how it goes with your audience.”

Stan gave a short laugh, dry. “Are you suggesting I sing depressing ‘love’ songs like you do?”

“They’re not depressing!” She shot back, eyes flashing.  “It’s poetic!”

He set the guitar aside and stood, his 6’1 frame closing in on her. Nova straightened but didn’t back away, chin tilted in challenge. He hooked a finger under her jaw, tilting her face up toward his. “Poetic, huh?”

“Did I stutter?” She smirks.

“This coming from the girl who thinks just because she’s from London, she’s got better taste in music.”

Nova chuckles. “No, just actual taste.”

Their breath mingled in the charged space between them, heavy and daring. Then Stan crashed his mouth against hers, hard and hungry.
