September 17, 2122.
Though it's only been a fortnight since the arrival of the 250 at Nova, morale has begun to dip at the new camp. There is an insurmountable quantity of work to be done in a quickly dwindling amount of time, rations are thin, and the different clans aren't integrating as seamlessly as the most optimistic in Nova's numbers may have hoped.
The Council has announced their solution: a party they're calling the "Unity Celebration". Though met with some skepticism, it is announced as an opportunity to continue to build bridges between clans that feel worlds apart and for Nova's citizens to relax for an evening before the work begins the next morning anew. There's even a concerted effort to scrape together an extra ration of food for the 250 for the evening — after all, the Council sees the cost outweighed by the hope of fostering unity.
The celebration is held beginning at dusk in the mess hall designated usually for dining, and the evening falls with a crisp autumn bite to the air. The Council has arranged for the tables and chairs to be pushed up along the sides to encourage mingling, the promised meager second helping of dinner is provided, and there's even a musician with an off-key guitar from the Southern Plains entertaining in a corner.
Of course, the party is a social powder keg.
As the harvest moon rises high above the treetops, fights break out. Fractures along clan lines appear as the evening wears on — and perhaps some bootlegged moonshine that's been circulating the party takes hold. Chaos ensues and conflict spreads. Some citizens dash for the barracks, some try to facilitate peace, some instigate.
Nova's citizens are invited to participate in this event. Whether your character is involved in the conflicts are completely up to you. We look forward to seeing everyone join the party!
