Nova pointed to her brother as she watched him try to get away before she spotted him. “Oh, no, no, you’re not getting away this time! I knew that was you the other day!”

Since the shock of the attack on her brother faded, Nova has been thinking a lot about her fight with Lucien. It weighed on her, and up until now, she didn’t even realize the amount of anger she harbored for her eldest brother, for all her siblings. She had spent her entire life feeling unloved, isolated, and scared, all at the same time, partly from her own making. Nova didn’t realize how long she had been angry, and she didn’t remember a time before she felt this. That fight with Lucien made it all bubble over. When Erik shut his humanity off, this worsened, if felt so lonely for Nova and made her realize everything more clearly.
Nova never knew where she stood with Lucien, and she spent these last few months trying to remember if there was ever a good time between her and Lucien. It was hard. For so long Nova had felt that it was always Azlee and Lucien, Lyssa and Elijah, and Aida and Erik. Nova never knew where she stood, everyone had someone, except her. That thought alone was so paralyzing. Nova worked so much off of trauma than her heart. Nova did everything to escape that feeling, that pain. Having Vanya in her life helped that, maybe that’s why she was so protective of her daughter. Even Vanya though seemed to get along more with Lucien than she did. That was up until Aida died, and Nova and Erik got close. It was weird, Nova gained a closeness to Erik after losing their sister. Nova often wondered sometimes that if Aida dying was the only reason they grew close. Though, after that, Nova grew further and further from Lucien. Though, Nova always felt like Lucien was more of a father than a brother, always protecting her. Distant, but always there. That was until he just wasn’t one day. That just fueled her anger. She felt abandoned, but maybe it really was her that left Lucien. Nova just always thought that he’d be there when she came back.
She was tired, no, exhausted from feeling this way. It no longer fueled her, instead it just hurt. She didn’t want to feel this way anymore, she didn’t want to feel like Lucien was more of a stranger than a brother. She was also terrified though that she was too late. Though that fear didn’t stop her from standing outside of her brother’s office at Northknot University, even though she wanted to run and hide, something she knew too well. Nova didn’t really want to admit it, but she really needed her big brother right now. Her breath was shaky, along with her hands. She had to keep herself from panic. She needed to apologize though. For everything. Nova felt like she was a kid again, hiding herself all over again, hiding all the panic that led to panic attacks and eventually just shutting down to protect herself, and hiding that from everyone. Nova was over 1000 years old, but right now she felt like she was young all over again. Mortal. She wondered if she even looked like that little girl she once was. The girl she tried so hard to hide half the time. She knocked on the slightly cracked door, hoping that he didn’t just slam the door in her face.
"Luc?” Nova asked, weaving her way through the crowds toward her older brother. “Is that really you?”
