Went to the town hall for the council meeting about recycling. I didn't understand all of the info, but I got a leaflet that will help. I so hope this initiative will be successful. On the walls of the meeting room was a wonderful paintings from Ios by Robbi Goldberg that I'd never seen before. After the meeting Robbie came round & we tucked into the leftovers from yesterday. Unfortunately we got caught in the storm on our way over - howling, bitterly cold winds and pouring rain. Was looking at some old photos on #timehop & came across this one of me from 7 years ago. This led me to ponder on how much life had changed for me in those years. Reflected about many wonderful memories & some not so pleasant ones. I've changed not only in appearance but also in character & outlook since then. Looking out to my garden from the house. You won't believe it, but my heater's gone on strike again - same problem as last time. Am not impressed, it's decidedly chilly in the evenings now. Luckily I have an electric radiator which warms up the room a bit (if you sit next to it). Electrician is busy & might not be able to come today, but he promises in that case he'll come tomorrow for sure. Don't roll your eyes like that - he's always done what he said he would up to now & even phones up if he's going to be late - reasonably priced too! So instead of going out for a drink as planned, I'll stick around the house in case he can make it. I've invited a friend round for lunch tomorrow, so I can get on with the prep & cooking. When Uli was alive, one of my roles was to cook for us. He really loved my meals. I lost this role when he died & I realised I was missing it, so I decided to ask a few friends round (not many at a time) & prepare a meal for us. Yay! Joe assembled my flat pack ..... poor guy, it took him ages. (I'd taken one look at the instructions & freaked - was ready to send it back to Amazon.) I'm so so grateful to him. Also managed to get hold of the electrician & he's coming round this afternoon to look at the heater. Things are looking up! Had a lovely evening with Jason & Kate yesterday - good conversation, great company. They were very complimentary about my food which was so sweet of them as it hadn't turned out as I'd wanted. Now I'm waiting for a friend to come round & help me assemble the chest of drawers in my studio - I'm hopeless at putting kit furniture together. #onemanandhisdog Had a coffee with Malcolm & Hamish at Wheel Well. Hamish was attempting to impersonate a Pointer, but didn't quite make it - even with Mal's guidance. Back home now & cooking. Unfortunately my heater just stopped working - I can't say it blew or anything, it just calmly turned itself off & refused to restart.
