At first he sleep was light, slightly rousing as he was joined in bed, momentarily forgetting where he was. But with arms around him, warm breath on his neck, Charles was able to fall back into a deep sleep, no monsters or memories to chase and make him suffer. It was so nice to have someone to protect him from his inner demons, even if it was temporary, even if when he woke up things may only get worse.
When the first rays of light shone through the curtains, eyes peeked open, but he only saw the other’s chest before him, having shifted in his sleep. Face immediately reddened, remembering how he had tiredly stumbled into the room for comfort just hours before, not knowing if the immortal had stayed or not. He should have known Abel would still be there, so beautifully stubborn. Gaze slipped shut, almost willing himself back to sleep, so he could continue enjoying such company.
