A word about my 'writing process' to all those wonderful people who drop by my inbox and ask...
I'm always telling people that in order to improve your writing or start writing, to just write, but sometimes that's a hard and difficult thing to imagine doing, especially when you expect to sit down and write a story from start to finish. That is rarely ever the case. I mean, it does happen, but not as often as I would like. So, here is a picture of what is going on in my life as I write now so you can get an idea of how I do what I do...
I am on the sofa (it's my base of operations for everything that happens in my house. The right side is mine and no one sits here but me...there have been many deaths...) I have my computer open with my inspirational music cued up, though most times I just put my earbuds in to block out the sound. I have seven documents open - some are almost completely realized fics, some are new things I'm cooking up, and of the new ones, some are just a title and a single line of dialogue. Those will be written today...or tomorrow...or next month... who knows. The things that have a deadline take precedence.
And sometimes they don't...(shrug)
I have a journal beside me with prompts I jot down and story ideas. I usually keep this under my pillow and if you look at it you can see how bad my handwriting sucks when I wake up with an idea at three in the morning (that is if I've actually gone to bed at that time. Most nights I'm still awake)
Another book is full of outlines for longer fics - step by step. If I could just sit down uninterrupted for a day I'm sure I can bang those out.
And then I have pics of Ricky Roman in the background...that's just cause I like to look at him and sigh...
And that's pretty much it :)
Some of it makes sense. Some of it doesn't. But it works for me.
So now find the thing that works for you :)
