Harry and Louis met when they were 16 and 18. Now, forgive me the brain science geerkery. Our brains don’t stop developing until 25. And the teen years are particularly powerful because of which parts of our brains are developing when.
If you google, why you never really leave high school psychology, you’ll see a whole bunch of articles. Essentially, you often see yourself as you were in high school. So, boys who were all-star athletes in high school always imagine themselves that way, even if they’re working a desk job.
Now, I do not like speaking with certainty about things. Just in general. But it isn’t possible for me to articulate what I want to here and keep that flexibility. So I will give this disclaimer: do I KNOW for certain? no. Do I live my life as though they got together on X-Factor and have stayed together? Yes. So, we’re just going to go with it.
So, take Louis and Harry. Specifically, take 16-year-old Harry who is soft and domestic and goofy just coming into himself. Add Louis who’s a natural caretaker who has honed his skills by Jay’s side.
Louis encouraged Harry in all his weirdness to let his freak flag fly. And that does something to a person at any age. But at 16. I could cry just thinking about it. To be loved, in that way, for who you are and who you are becoming. I’m actually not sure there’s anything more powerful. Louis has always believed in Harry.
So when Harry was hesitant about painting his nails, Louis said go for it. When Harry was scared to grow his hair out, Louis did it too.
