She fed me
She fed me chilli chocolate and let me lay in her bed. One particularly huge Hello Kitty began to fall slowly towards me until it rested awkwardly by my head. She hummed a song I didn’t recognise and just smiled in response to my bemusement. I stared at the graffiti on the computer desk as she was adding to it; ignoring the IM message alerts popping up on the screen. I watched her feet twitching to the beat in her head and I didn’t quite understand the feeling that slowly spread through me: It scared me a fraction and made me feel strangely invisible. So I just hovered there, listening, waiting for her to look away from her drawing. When she jumped over to me and eventually spoke, her voice was calm and steady, so gentle and comforting, almost unbearably so. It filled me with warmth, with strength. The feeling I had found was rare.
Is there anywhere better than here?
