The fact that the phone was still working didn’t bother Claire; in fact she didn’t find it strange at all. They were just lucky the lines hadn’t gone down yet, though with all the fires and accidents cropping up, she doubted the connection would last long. Better make sure Leon had everything he needed..
“Hang on, Chris…” she frowned, glancing over at her anxious brother. The problem with him was he got a little too worked over, became too paranoid. To her, their location felt secure, so why did they need to leave? If a ‘copter was coming—and she hoped that Leon could sanction one’s use—then they could get to the roof (or a roof, it didn’t matter) later. “Sorry, Leon. I need to get off the phone, but please…hurry. And be safe. If we’re not in the same building, we’ll be in the same area.”
As she hung up the phone, she gave her brother her full attention, allowing herself to be guided toward the door, though honestly she didn’t think it was necessary to run right back out. Though as the saying went, it was better to be safe than sorry. If something—or a certain golden-eyed someone—was out there, coming for them, she wanted to be in a secure location.
“Calm down.”
Her voice was smooth and gentle, not at all scolding or impatient. If they were going to find safety, it was important for Chris to keep a cool head and not worry about every little detail. They were still in good shape, though their ammo supply was beginning to run a little low. If they were lucky they wouldn’t need to scrounge up anymore; they could just hole up somewhere until the cavalry came.
But when are we ever that lucky…?
“We’re okay, Chris. I’m right beside you.”
He could hear Chris's anxious voice flood into the background, and this caused the blonde's lips to curve low into a subtle frown. Leon was relieved that Chris was within Claire's presence - he had no doubt that Chris would do anything to protect his younger sister, but he also knew how Chris can get when Claire was exposed to danger. The man tended to lose rational thoughts, and that wasn't going to help either of them in their current situation.
"I'll be there as soon as I can. In the meantime, be careful, and make sure Chris doesn't do anything stupid."
Tossing a bag of magazines and other necessities into his car, he was already dialing the familiar series of numbers on his phone, listening to the dull ringing noise that sounded like time slipping as each seconds ticked by...
"Agent Kennedy? What can I do for you at this hour of the night?"
Leon was already reviving the engine of his car by the time his Commander picked up his call, ignoring the tinge of surprise he could hear in the other's voice as a tremor-laced breath escaped his lips.
"Sir, I need your help.."

It's been an hour since he had that conversation with his superior, and Leon was now heading towards the location Claire had issued him, jaws locked and that hand on the steering pale from gripping too hard. Turned out that the government had already sniffed out what was going on, but as the blonde had feared, they were reluctant to get involved. The President's solution? To sterilize the city with nuclear missiles before the virus could further spread. Just like what the previous President had done for the Raccoon City's virus outbreak. Which meant he didn't have much time before the city would become destroyed. He had to get the Redfields and other possible survivors out of there fast, but.. without the government's assistant, Leon wasn't sure how well that would go. It was just him, after all. But even so, he couldn't just stand back and let the Redfields cope with this nightmare on their own. He wasn't sure how useful he would be without being granted government's help, but the Redfields were counting on him. And he wasn't about to let them down entirely.
As he reached his destination, he could already see the damage that's been inflicted on the city. Most of the city were lit with fire, cars upturned, and the buildings were falling apart. Leon's blue eyes darkened from the onslaught of memories. It felt as if he was back to that fated night where all hell had broke loose..
He was snapped out of his reminiscing when he heard a sudden noise, flicking his gaze to the front only to find four zombies pounding on his windshield, as if they were trying to break the glass and get to him. Hues narrowing, the blonde set his car to reverse before pulling the vehicle backwards a good distance, and before those undead had the chance to follow, Leon hurled the car forwards. There was a muffled crunching of bones as the car ran over the zombies, and after inspecting the fallen bodies behind him, he killed the engine.
Drawing out his pistol as he stepped out of the car, he aimed his gun on the head of the undead writhing on the ground, its arm outstretched towards him and grotesque fingers groping at the empty air. A loud bang reverberated through the city the moment he had pulled the trigger, an in turn, a chorus of groans greeted him, as if that sound of gunshot had alerted the rest of the undead of his presence. There wasn't a time to waste. Lowering his pistol-wielding arm, he reached into his car before fishing out the sack of ammunition, slinging it over his shoulder while cerulean hues glanced around his surrounding. Claire and Chris should be around here.. he dearly hope they were still alive and intact.
