“I mean, when you think about it...” Alena started, pausing to decide wether or not her comment was worth it. “There’s a lot that goes into the idea of Halloween... Although I think the most fun part of the holiday is dressing up as someone you’re not.” Being someone they’re not has become easier for Alena as the years had passed, putting on a front in front of practically everyone. “Or I guess you could be who you truly are, and that’d be the most surprising costume you could think of, hm?”

open starter - a park at twilight

Kodi kept up the count in her head as her feet rhythmically struck the pavilion--theem-theem-thakka-tham, turning in place and unfurling her fingers like a flower towards the gold-streaked sky. She was absolutely absorbed in practicing her dance, so much so that she felt the prickle on the back of her neck of being watched only belatedly. 

The moment she noticed, though, her hand slammed pause on the music on her phone, and she whirled around, diving for the wand in the folds of her skirt in the same motion. As always, she was as ready to duel as she was to dance. She just hadn’t meant to be confronted in this small green space by her apartment on a weeknight.

“I didn’t know I had an audience.” Her dark eyes glinted--she liked to be caught off-guard even less since she’d gotten fangs in the back of her neck, and she was now even more dangerous when she was, what with her own fangs and faster reflexes than ever.

Mirabella shook her head slowly as she studied the mannequin in the shop window in Diagon clad in an...ensemble. Was this what passed for wixen winterwear in London? She would have to return to Paris, most certainly, or Milan, if she didn’t want to be the laughingstock at the Zabini family holiday celebrations. 

“And who exactly do you suppose that would suit?” she remarked acidly to the person standing next to her, looking into the same shop window--only to realize, when they turned, that they were wearing an unnervingly similar outfit. She cleared her throat delicately. 

“Ah.”
