Nabooru offered a nod, understanding Karlach's position. Near strangers aside, delving into the details of a sordid tale of slavery and forced service in a war that, she assumed, was not the tiefling's to fight, of demolished trust between her and someone she respected, didn't come as easily as discussing the weather or a favorite dish. Thus, she didn't begrudge Karlach for her choice to dodge her offer; Nabooru likely would have done the same.
Though she likely wished it wasn't so, the faltering of Karlach's usually boisterous and even joyous demeanor made her inner turmoil obvious, even for those she now surrounded herself with who hardly knew her. The change in her came with the suddenness of a summer storm, and, both out of sincere sympathy and the knowledge none of them could afford distractions with the targets on their backs and the parasites squirming in their skulls, the Gerudo could not help but try to address it. Give her a chance to vent out her frustrations if she needed to...on more than just a tollhouse.
" A fair point. I'm used to heat, but considering you can make me sweat within a few feet of you in minutes, I can only imagine how that heart feels inside you. " Fire roiling under her skin, in her blood and searing every inch of her. Or that's how she imagined it. Uncomfortable to say the least, even if the tiefling made it look relatively bearable most of the time.
" And no need to dwell on tragedy when we have enough to worry about as is. " She prodded at the side of her head with her index finger, indicating their parasite problem. " But, my offer will always stand. If you ever need it. "
Still, the idea of walking away from Karlach settled worse in the pit of her stomach than when, in desperation, she tore into the raw flesh of a Lizalfos she felled. So, she switched her strategy.
" Actually...you said you're from around here, right? " She dug a map out of her pack, one filched off a corpse they passed by with a few blood stains on it. " Since this is your home, maybe you could tell me more about it? Point out some of your favorite spots or things I should know? "
