The National Park Service (NPS) is considering new rules for parks handling archaeological materials
Heads-up, fellow archaeologists:
Archaeology: The National Park Service (NPS) is considering new rules for parks handling archaeological materials.
The NPS announced Monday it is pushing more efficient curation rules for parks managing federally-owned archeological collections. The new rules would establish standards and procedures for disposing of materials that are no longer deemed to be of significant interest.
The public has 90 days to comment.

I can understand the problem of having too much stuff, but I can see this going horribly wrong. If given the ability to destroy artifacts individually thought as useless, then artifacts deemed important later down the road will be lost.
