Regrettably, there is little to report today. The Terran did not appear in the main control room, and I was informed by the system integrated into the machinery, that the Vitrichl required her presence and would likely for the rest of the cycle.
I went on to execute my daily duties as always, and had little time to focus on the operation of finding out more about humans.
I resorted to inquiring the programmed system V-7, that functions as an assistant, both in the main control room as well as the rest of the ship.
I researched about any possible sources, works and written down information about humans that existed. As I had expected, besides mythological narrations and outdated cautionary tales, there was not much to be found.
One report did strike my attention though: a description of a book, a handwritten one, last known location: system Skė-51-33. Not exactly the most fortunate information, given that the current course of the SIIR Noxos did not come even remotely close to this particular system, mainly due to its unfriendly nature.
But I am certain that if I arrange an audience with the Vitrichl and inform him about this book, we might be able to quickly pass through this system and acquire this book as soon as possible, given that V-7‘s source is actually credible.
Tyler felt his eyes close slowly before he shook himself awake. A sharp pain shot through his back, completely waking him up again. Slowly he rubbed a hand over his eyes, until he saw another galaxy dancing in front of his vision.
This was not going to be good. He needed sleep. His body was already so close to breaking down that going without sleep would just push him past the breaking point. He was playing with fire, not giving his body any rest, it was going to break and that’s not going to be a pleasant sight.
“Hey Tyler!”
He quickly looked up, blinking at the boy that stood in front of him. “River?” he asked “What do you want?”
The boy glared at him for a moment before folding his hands behind his head. “One of your friends are at the door” he said “They looked annoyed, so you might want to hurry up”
“Friend?” Tyler asked, looking at River with a raised eyebrow “I don’t have friends”
“Well this one says she’s your friend”
“She?”
“Yeah, it’s a girl” the boy said sarcastically “That’s normally what it means when you say she”
Tyler shot him a flat look and smacked River lightly on the head. “Go be sarcastic somewhere else, brat” he muttered as he got to his feet, one trembling hand holding on to the chair, making sure that he did not faint or fall over.
“So who’s your friend?” River asked, grinning.
“How should I know?” Tyler snapped back “I don’t who’s here”
River snorted. “I didn’t think that you even knew how to talk to a girl, other than scaring them away”
“River...” Tyler growled.
The boy laughed and jumped out of Tyler’s reach. “Ha! See! You have the social skills of a duck” he taunted.
“I’m going to strangle you!” Tyler hissed and shot forward. He tackled River to the ground. The boy let out a scream.
“ARTHUR! TYLER’S TRYING TO KILL ME!” he screamed.
Tyler clammed a hand over River’s mouth. He had to be careful not to hurt the boy. Even now he still had to control his strength when handling others.
“River” he growled in the boy’s ear “I swear I’m going to rip you apart”
“Master Tyler” a calm voice said and Tyler looked up, smiling at the old man.
“Arthur” he said, blinking innocently up at the man “Is there anything that I can help you with?”
The old man gave him a flat look. “Master Tyler” he said “Please let the young master go. Miss Victoria is waiting for you at the door”
Tyler frowned, glanced down at River, narrowed his eyes at the boy before he groaned and slowly let go of him. Slowly he sat back, arms crossed watching as a smirking River scrambled back away from him.
River stuck out his tongue at Tyler, got to his feet and ran. “SUCKER!” he screamed before disappearing around the corner.

“Tyler?” Vic asked as Tyler closed the door behind him.
Tyler nodded slightly at her, pulling his bangs further over his eyes. “Why are you here, Vic?” he asked, jamming his hands into his jacket pocket.
Vic frowned slightly as she studied him for a moment. “Did you forget?” she asked “Professor Milles gave us a project to do for Friday. On the business development in the European countries”
For a moment Tyler just blinked at her, confused before he nodded slightly. “Oh yeah...” he muttered, rubbing his hand over his eyes again “Sorry”
“Are you alright?” Vic asked softly.
“Where do you want to work?” Tyler asked, ignoring Vic’s question.
Vic sighed. “The business school library” she said “It always quiet there and I reserved us a study room”
Tyler nodded. “Did you drive all the up here?” he asked “Or do you want me to drive us?”
“I drove, we can take my car” she said “I will drop you off, when we’re done, then Arthur doesn’t need to come pick you up”
The drive to the library was quiet.
Tyler sat the entire way with his head resting against the window. Every now and then his eyes would flicker closed, but he’d flinch slightly before opening them again. One hand clenched and relaxed as he struggled to stay awake.
Vic parked the car and turned to Tyler. “Tyler” she said “What is going on with you?”
For a moment it looked like Tyler had fallen asleep and he voice woke him up again. He pressed his hand against his forehead before tilting his head toward Vic.
“I’m fine...” he said and Vic just lifted her hand, stopping him from saying anything else.
“I know you, Tyler” she said “There is something wrong. You look like a ghost that hasn’t slept in days. So what is going on?”
Tyler turned his head away, refusing to say anything.
Vic sighed, wringing her hands together. “Tyler...” she started and paused, looking down at her hands “Look I don’t know... I don’t know what’s going with you, but if you... If you ever need someone to talk to...I’m sorry, I don’t know how to talk to you about this”
“Then don’t” Tyler said. His voice sounded tired with a slight edge to it.
“NO!” Vic snapped, turning towards him “I get it. You don’t like us and you don’t trust us. You made that quite clear a lot of times in the past. But for once in your life, trust me. You don’t have to trust the others, just tell me what’s going with you, I want to help... I want to help you”
Tyler tilted his head slightly, so he could see her out of the corner of his eye. “Why?”
For a moment Vic just stared at him. She could feel a slight relieve in her chest. He was listening to her, for the moment he was listening and not shutting her out like he always did.
“Because I like you” she said “You are smart, intelligent. And when you’re not being an sarcastic asshole, you’re funny, when you allow others to see it. Kind with people, but straight forward. I’ve seen you with River. You treat him kindly, protect him and do anything you can for him”
Tyler pressed the heal of his hand against his forehead. “Stop it, Vic” he said quietly “I get it, so stop it”
“Then tell me what’s going on with you”
“I’m fine...”
“No, you are not” she said “Why aren’t you sleeping? I watched you the last few minutes. Every time it looks like you’re about to fall asleep, you fight against it. What is going on?”
Tyler pulled one leg up, resting his head on his knee. “I... cannot do it...” he said “I’m so tired”
Vic frowned. “What do you mean?”
He sighed and sat back, looking up at the roof. “I guess I’m afraid”
Silence followed.
“I don’t understand” Vic said.
Tyler looked over at her. “Did you know that the NightAngel has a demon?” he asked “It’s a pretty messed up thing. The demon eats you from the inside, that’s why the NightAngel never last very long”
“I didn’t know”
“No one really knows” Tyler said “Arthur told me about it, but I had to go read up on it on my own. It’s a nasty business”
“I’m sorry, Tyler”
He shook his head. “Don’t be” he said and tilted his head, looking over at her “I’ve gotten over it”
“Is that why you cannot sleep?”
Tyler laughed and shook his head. “No... maybe, it’s something like that” he said “It like if I go to sleep, that bloody demon would take over. I don’t think that it’s possible, but I’m still terrified of it happening”
Vic watched him for a moment before she nodded. “You’re afraid to sleep?” she asked quietly.
The chuckle from Tyler sounded tired. “It sounds stupid, doesn’t it?” he said, not looking at Vic anymore.
“No” she said, shaking her head “This is something that’s bothering you, even if you think it is an unreasonable fear. It’s still something that affects you and that’s not stupid”
Tyler closed his eyes, a small smile playing on his lips.
