Got to spend yesterday afternoon visiting the NS Savannah while she’s in Philly for drydocking and decommissioning. Spoke with their folks about the trials and tribulations of taking a museum ship to drydock.

July 21 1959: NS Savannah, the first nuclear-powered cargo-passenger ship, is launched as a showcase for Dwight D. Eisenhower's "Atoms for Peace" initiative. She was in service between 1962 and 1972 as one of only four nuclear-powered cargo ships ever built. Savannah was deactivated in 1971 and after several moves has been moored at Pier 13 of the Canton Marine Terminal in Baltimore, Maryland, since 2008. (wikipedia)

This is an early xmas gift from my fiance.

So I mentioned before how I'm a huge nerd for historical passenger ships and this is a ultra rare model of the nuclear ship Savannah, the worlds first and only nuclear passenger and cargo ship. It was only active in the 60s and this model was actually made in the 60s too and all others of that kind are either found in auctions or in museums (often in worse conditions).

And now I have one!

The box it came with is original too.
