Does prevention work?
Today is National Suicide Prevention Day...whatever that means. I guess today is the special day we ask people not to kill themselves on this day alone. The other says are okay...like tomorrow, 9/11. Killing oneself on 9/11 makes sense. People will forget about today and sympathize with the stress tomorrow brings as a patriotic move on the part of the die-ee. You where still in the hospital when it happened. Arms flailing, a charcoal pumped body, white washed, with that classic "watch this you ignorant fool" smirk you used so well. It's old. This whole story of you is old. At this point I think I am the mad one that made up an imaginary sister I used to have. Only it's hard for me to hear your voice anymore in my mind. You don't even know how eagerly and desperately the family wants to see you. We play it off like we're okay with you being gone. We're not. National Suicide Prevention Day...maybe it worked but it's hard to tell.
