I really like imagining Rogue and Hunter’s friendship before everything gradually went to hell like just two pals who hate this oppressive bureaucracy they’re in and most of the people in it with them but they want to help so they’re stuck and they’ll stick up for each other like

Their cover is always that he’s her cousin or kid brother and it keeps getting them out of messes they caused, like one time some creepy guy wouldn’t stop harassing Rogue and Hunter comes in acting like a precocious twelve-year-old who doesn’t know about any of this and manages to get her away

“I am the ONLY ONE allowed to make short jokes about him and if you try it I will punt you into the next dimension”

They keep trying to lowkey make the Captain’s life as difficult as possible (though once Rogue starts working for her Hunter cools off and they both just kinda complain about the Captain in private, “do you know how this woman takes her coffee???? it’s black. like her soul. i’m not kidding not even sugar”)

Hunter’s too good/specialized for them to fire him so he takes the fall whenever they cause a prank or something (clearly that all catches up to him)

“-flies up ten feet with the jetpack- hey look i’m taller than you now” “that doesn’t count yOU LITTLE PUNK--”

They’re like the dad at the beginning of the Incredibles they will go behind everyone’s backs to help out someone who needs it

Hunter: “I’m tired now so you have to carry me”

“I wasn’t THAT drunk at the secret party” “you picked me up like a football and ran me across the parking lot” “...well it’s not like anyone’s gonna find--” “then ran into the captain’s car” “shit”

“they put me on traffic duty today out of spite and I hate it let’s just go and watch some cartoons or something”

“Why am I always the one who has to go crawling around in the vents?!”
