vera's only ever wanted her life to be about happiness and light but she's gotten herself all wrapped up in this terrifying and deadly adventure in which she's had to embrace the parts of herself she resents most, risk her life, and fight alongside people who have years of experience and training on her. and she's not even doing it because she has feelings for mc, this is just the kind of person she is; the type to return to her hometown after years of avoiding it because of all the emotional baggage and pain it holds for her for no reason other than to make her friend happy. if there's a better person out there i don't know them.
