7. What fic are you proudest of? I think... maybe Waiting. And honestly, the main reason is because after Derek comes back to himself, the entire ending I originally had was absolutely awful. I kind of lost how to finish it after he was "human" again because I'd spent so much time building up the whole like, Stiles and Feral!Derek relationship that my brain was like "nope. cannot do." when he went human again. The first draft of the ending was uh... It's never gonna see the light of day, let's put it that way. It was not good. So I guess I'm just proud that instead of just giving up, I put it aside for a while and came back to it and actually wrote out an ending I'm pretty happy with :)

22. What is one of your favourite tropes to write? Royalty AU lol. I don't even know why! I think it's just fun because I can make up these silly rules or like, try and be sneaky about it so it's not immediately apparent? Idk, that one is super fun to me. I know it's not everyone's jam, but I just think making stuff up for fun is entertaining :D (By that same merit, I guess technically Mates is a good one too, because I make up rules for that as well lol)

33. What is your favourite line from Actions Speak Louder than Words? Why you gotta hurt me like this?! lol You chose the longest fic as if I don't have the memory of a goldfish LOL Omg okay, let me think, channel yourself back when you were writing it |D (Not me partially re-reading the fic to remember anything lol) Okay I was halfway to the end before I realized I knew what it was. Technically not one line, but if it has to specifically be one line, then it's what's in the quotations.

Jackson was silent for a long moment, and then said, very quietly, “I was actually thinking I really wouldn’t mind being a Hale.” 

Stiles had exactly one second for those words to register before Jackson had his face in his hands and began to cry.

I don't know why, I just like it. Maybe because it was technically a last minute addition (the whole Jackson background storyline) and I feel like I somehow still made it work. Who knows! But it's that :)

Maple Sugar

Since everyone beat me to saying marshmallows, my suggestion is maple sugar. Boil pure maple syrup in a heavy saucepan until 257°-262° F, transfer to mixer bowl and beat on medium low until you see the steam go POOF at which point the maple goop will turn sandy. Spread it on a cookie sheet to cool, sift, then whizz up the bigger lumps in a food processor. Tasty on oatmeal or yogurt, even better sprinkled onto slices of bacon with cracked pepper and before baking in oven.

This comment was made years ago in response to a post I made about what fun things might exist to do with a good stand mixer I had recently purchased, but I’m still going through my @cookerbadge recipes and this one seemed both doable and interesting, so I finally got to try it out! 

It is kind of magical how it happens -- one second the whipped maple syrup looks like taffy, and then a second later it’s like a switch flipped and it’s sandy powder. I didn’t have to sift it or grind up the big bits, really, nothing was overly large, although there was a thick layer of caked-on sugar on the bottom of the bowl that couldn’t be used and just had to be “soaked out”. But now I’ve got maple sugar to sprinkle on the overnight oats that I am still somewhat experimenting with (I can’t seem to find a good balance of “gloopy wallpaper paste” against “milk with oats floating in it”) as well as other treats! 

I will say that between a slight over-boil incident and the sugar I’d have had to chip out of the bowl with a chisel, about a cup and a half of maple syrup became a half a cup of sugar very quickly, so it’s not the most cost-effective use to which it could be put, but it was fun to make! And it does go extremely well as a topping on both toast (after toasting) and bacon (before baking, to give it a nice luster.)

Can I ask what the story behind the "backwards/mustard shirt" tag is? It confuses me every time!

I’ve seen people reblogging those pics of G wearing that shirt and thinking that yellow thing was spilled mustard so I started tagging it as “mustard shirt” but then a couple people told me it was actually just Gerard wearing a graphic shirt backwards so I just started tagging it like that lol. It amuses me.

A few weeks ago while I was working graveyards, I had LOTMS on and I had a full on meltdown, screamed WHY ARE YOUR TEETH SO /FUCKING/ TINY? at the screen, and burst into tears. I may have been a little sleep deprived...

believe it or not ive done that before. actually i spent the last 7 years yelling at screens because of Gerard (and also Lindsey, and also Gerard and Lindsey lol)

Ohhhh gosh, THANK YOU for the reminder of NaClYoHo. I just bought my first house(I close November 20th), but the current apartment is a DISASTER. I've been working on it but it'll feel so much less like work to clean, pare down, and pack NaClYoHo style.

Oh yay! I hope it helps. I am writing the manifesto as we speak. And congrats on buying your first home! Fingers crossed for a smooth closing!

While I don’t think it’s necessary to prep for NaClYoHo -- when I came up with the idea it was literally like 3 days to November -- I am preparing a little bit this year. Making notes about stuff I want to work on, etc.

Also I bought a handheld steam cleaner. You guys, this thing is amazing. I’m going to steam everything that can possibly be steamed. I should have bought one of these years ago.

Ohhh, is there backstory with Sir Terry and banana daiquiris that I missed? My brain thought it was a reference to Tennant on Who partying it up with Madame de Pompadour.

Which might actually have been a Pterry reference, now that I think on it.

It’s not really a backstory per se, it’s just that Pterry (like the Librarian in the Discworld books) was fond of banana daiquiris, and used to put in his author bio that he was fond of them so that people would buy them for him if they happened to spot him out and about. Like the hat and the beard, it was just a sort of little fun signature of his.
