A quick friendly reminder to all art students and professors,
Be nice to your nude-models and look out for their welfare!
They are like you just humans! So if you notice them having a struggle holding a pose ( them getting too cold/turning pale/shivering a lot/overall them not beeing well) offer them a god damn pause, something to drink and a blanket or even to end the session! Don't ever get mad at them because they had to move and you couldn't finish your drawing!
When you have sessions during the cold months place heaters way before the session even starts so that the stage can warm up it, doesn't matter if the art students will complain that it's too 'hot' in the room, have a nice warm drink ready for the model when the session is over and let them have their blanket! Drawing you model with a blanket draped over parts of their body doesn't take away from the practice IT ADDS TO IT so don't f***ing complain about the blanket!
Even if you are 'just' a student don't be afraid to ask the model if they are okay if you notice them being unwell! You professor might not notice it because they are too involved critiquing the other students so you make them aware and make sure that the model is comfortable too.
If you model happen to faint don't be a pussy about touching them, THEY NEED YOUR HELP AND THEY DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE TOUCHING THEM WHILE THEY ARE NAKED OR NOT! You still wanna keep you hands away from the no-no parts but damn that doesn't mean you can't support their back or bring them into a save position! It may be a medical problem but also remember most models are student themselves! Students can have money troubles and may have problems keeping themselves feed so ask if they had a meal before modeling and if not give them something to eat!
If something like that happend and your professor decides to be an ass and to cut the pay for the model talk some sense into them THE MODEL NEEDS IT!
Also remember the model isn't there for your pleasure so if you personally don't like what you see just shut the f*** up! The model don't need a braty student telling them that they prefer bigger breasts, a male model, diffrent colored hair or that the scares are distracting! That's just rude and if you want to complain bc of your personal preference go to a strip club or something!
Also also and that one is a special point if you happen to have a trans model and they are wearing a packer/binder/breast plate/are tucking, don't fucking make them take it off/un-tuck!!!!! It is a special honor to have a trans person as model and if they aren't comfortable without those things (bc it's f***ing part of their body artificial or not) don't pressure them in a situation that makes them struggle with themselves and degrades their status!
