Horses will always be one of my favorite things..

I grew up around horses, making my dad drive me to Chesterfield or even further to get me to lessons so I could just be around these magnificent animals.  It was always a casual thing I never got super into competing or anything but some of my favorite memories take place at a barn with a horse.  I was lucky enough to come across a local family (who I later nannied for well I still kind of do!) who had horses right in Ladue and I basically moved into their barn.  I would ride whenever someone would go with me or watch me, and I would go by to groom, or just hang out with on the reg. Now I am 22 years old and lucky enough to say I am on Northeastern;s Equestrian Team.  Started by a group of determined girls wanting to get back on the horses supported by our university after a few years of trying it finally happened.  I've been on the team for 2 years and I'm sad to say I won't have another year to spend on it! This saturday i spent 13 hours at the barn where we were hosting our big home show.... woke up at 4:00 am filled up my car with tack and teammates and it began. From horse holding, parking patrol, shoveling shit, organizing everything, and watching teammates the day was non stop till I got home at 5:30pm.  As tired and honestly as cranky as I was though, there is no place i would rather spend an entire day than at the barn.  I will always love horses, and I hope I am able to raise my kids around horses when the time comes. :)
