“You have to try this one!” Aron urged, opening the small package with clumsy fingers. He was always overly excited about getting gifts from home, especially if they were his favorite muggle snacks.
“It’s nine in the morning, Aron,” you whined, pushing your breakfast plate away. Sour candy didn’t seem like the best thing to complete your morning meal, but your boyfriend would insist.
“You’ll love them!” he promised, shaking the box on the table and making multi-colored candy roll across.
“Alright,” you agreed quickly because you knew he would end up eating them by himself and by the time classes ended, he’d have no candy left and would be on a terrible sugar-high. Picking out some green and blue gummies, you eyed Aron sideways before dropping four of them on your mouth. Your face twisted immediately, cheeks hurting from the acid taste as Aron bursted out laughing.
“What the heck is this?!” you rubbed your cheeks, “You did this on purpose!”
Aron chewed on a couple gummies, still grinning. “Told you you’d like them,”
“I hate you,” you laughed, reaching for your pumpkin juice and regretting it, it would probably taste awful with the sourness still lingering on your tongue.
Aron pouted, popping another red gummy into his mouth. “You love me,”
With another short laugh, you leaned into him, kissing his pout softly. The remnants of sugar and the acidic taste of the candy were present on his lips, and you chuckled at the taste.
“See, I told you,” he laughed, his pout supplanted by a cheeky grin.
a/n: this was requested! Thank you so much for sending nu’est requests!! (and sorry if I take long to get to them) 💓
Jonghyun
Doesn’t know where to put his hands at first.
What is he doing? only god knows.
Lets you get comfortable first, and just goes with it. It probably ends up with him getting a stiff arm or leg and having to change positions prettu quickly.
Can’t help but laugh about it as you two get into comfortable position this time.
Loves playing with your fingers and listening to you talk as you cuddle.
Aron
I feel like Aron is veeery touchy in general so cuddling with him would be something he loves!
Keeps his arm around you, under your back/shoulders.
Complains ten minutes later that his arm went numb and asks to shift positions.
Takes a while to get comfortable again, causing you to complain about it, because why won’t he stop moving!!
Eventually everything turns into a mess and he’s probably tickling you, while still complaining that his arm feels like it’s got tv static on it.
Baekho
JUST IMAGINE LAYING ON HIS CHEST (i love chests okay)
But I actually think he likes having your head on his chest or the crook of his neck.
Caresses your back softly or keeps his hand resting on your hips/lower back.
Loves being the big spoon.
I think it’s very intimate every time you cuddle, unlike Aron who’s more playful I think Baekho just enjoys having you so close.
Minhyun
I think Minhyun is awkward about it too, just a bit.
But he’s pretty quick to just relax into your embrace, having your arms wrapped around his torso makes him feel at ease.
Pecks your head every now and then as he pulls you closer to him.
Minhyun can also get playful about it, though it’s rare, he tickles you or squeezes you playfully, stealing a kiss every time you laugh.
He likes to hum when you’re lying on his chest, to help you relax.
Ren
A mess of limbs all over.
Ren also loves the intimacy and closeness of cuddling with you, which is why keeping distance incredibly short is so important.
Tangles his legs around yours and intertwines your hands, unless he wants you to play with his hair.
Usually falls asleep as you touch his hair.
Likes being the small spoon every now and then, because it makes him feel pampered.
◇ Warnings: I am not a doctor, so Google was my best friend with this, still, please excuse the medical inaccuracies it might contain! There’s a bit of jealous Minhyun and mentions of medical procedures, and descriptions of wounds, etc.
Also this was earlier than planned bc it’s his birthday, yay!
“Dr. y/ln, the ambulance is two minutes out” the nurse holding the phone with both hands spoke softly, her head pointing to the exit of the Emergency Room. You nodded, rushing to get a new pair of blue rubber gloves and then making your way to the ambulance bay.
Another busy day at Seoul Memorial’s ER meant another busy day for you, but there was nothing that you loved more than your job, when you were able to help people. It was true that being a doctor had its fair share of sorrowful moments, specially with all the things you saw in the Emergency Room, but you always put your heart on everything you did.
“What do we have?” you questioned, walking next to the gurney as the EMS pushed it inside quickly, a woman in tears following closely without taking her eyes of the child laying down.
“Male patient, seven years old, he had trouble breathing and chest pains, his mother says his lips were turning blue when she called 119” the male paramedic explained “His heartbeat is irregular but his breathing was stabilized with oxygen in the ambulance”
“Alright, thank you we’ll take it from here” you held on to the gurney as a couple nurses did the same, pushing it to one of the small examination rooms.
“Doctor,” the paramedic called before you disappeared with your patient and you turned around to meet him again “He’s pretty scared, as well as his mom. His name is Namgyu”
You nodded comprehensively, “We’ll take good care of them” you assured, finally going inside the room, the nurses had already switched him to the bed. “Let’s get some fluids going and keep the oxygen”.
As the nurses worked on your instructions, you approached the frightened child, his eyes wide open as he tried to take in the faces of the strangers around him. Namgyu’s breath hitched again as he recoiled on the bed.
“Hello there, my name is y/n, you’re Namgyu, right?” you spoke soothingly, approaching the kid slowly, looking back at his mother for a brief moment, she nodded to Namgyu, mouthing something about you trying to help him.
“Yes” Namgyu’s voice trembled as he looked at his mom and then back at you “Can I go home?”
“I’m afraid not yet, Namgyu, we have to check that everything is working perfectly with you. Can you tell me what you were feeling earlier?”
“I couldn’t breathe! I was so scared and then it started hurting right here” Namgyu put his right hand over the chest “It still hurts a bit”
“Hmm, okay then. I will listen to your heart with this, okay? It’s a little cold” you advised while putting the stethoscope against his skin, making him shiver. You could hear what the EMS meant with irregular heartbeat and you didn’t like it at all, but still you needed to know a lot more about his condition. “Gyu, I’m going to need to take a real close look at your hearbeat but I’m going to need the help of one of my friends, I will bring him with me in a couple minutes” you smiled at the kid and turned to meet his mother’s gaze “Let’s talk outside for a moment Mrs….?”
“Min” the woman sighed, leading the wait out of Namgyu’s room, her hands battling against each other with anxiety. “Is he going to be okay?”
“I can hear something off about his heartbeat, so we’re gonna need to run an electrocardiogram to take a good look at it. He’s stable right now, but I’d rather we do it soon, I will call the technician” you said, placing a hand on the woman’s shoulder “I’ll be back shortly” you promised gesturing her to go back inside to her son.
“Hey, could you call the techician for Namgyu, please? He needs and ECG” you asked Nurse Kim at the station, a gentle smile plastered on your face though you felt a little uneasy about Namgyu’s situation. Hopefully it’d be nothing bad, but the thing about little kids in trouble was that they made you twice as worried as your avergage adult patient. You couldn’t understand how Minhyun did it as a Pediatric Cardiologist, he always kept it together no matter what the situation was and you admired him for it, but you still thought it must be incredibly difficult. Plus, he never talked about it, not even to you, and you’d had been dating him for a while now.
The thing about your relationship with Minhyun was that nobody knew about it except for the two of you, and honestly it was better that way, at least how you saw it. If there was anything you wanted to stay away from at a hospital, it was gossip, and what a greater source of rumors than a relationship that’s on the public domain. However, Minhyun was pushing his luck about this secret way too much, ever since he heard the new interns whispering about you during lunch, and how much you seemed to appeal to them, one of them had even dared to ask for your number, and while Minhyun trusted you quite literally with his life, the need of letting everyone know you were taken had invaded him like weed to a beautiful rose.
“y/n!” Doctor Kang slid across the nurse’s desk towards you, a couple of interns behind him holding charts against their chest. “I’m so happy to see you”
“What do you want, Dongho?” you questioned unamused, he always wanted something from you, which resulted annoying every time, but you still did it because he happened to be a good friend of yours.
“I came to deliver your help for today” he used his thumb to point at the intern closest to him “Song, you’re with Dr. y/ln today”
“Fine” Song half whined. You knew the interns hated the ER, mostly because they would always end up doing stitches or drenched in vomit from patients.
“Don’t get too excited, Dr. Song” you addressed sarcastically, you were also not particularly happy to get Song Jaeseok, since he had asked for your number more than once although you’d said no repeteadly “Let’s go, there’s another ambulance five minutes out”.
Jaeseok gave his chart to the other intern before sprinting behind you to the ambulance bay, where you were met with a familiar face. Moon Bin was a paramedic that you saw way more often that you’d have liked, he always got you patients in pretty bad shape, not that you could blame him, he just got them out of the situations they had gotten involved in the first place.
“What have we got?” you signalled Song to hurry as you walked beside Moon Bin.
“Female in her twenties, she was involved in a car accident, hit her head pretty bad and her shoulder is broken” Bin explained “We gave her some morphin on the way here, blood pressure is stable. There’s a lot more coming in, y/n”
“We lift her on my count, one, two, three!” you began your examination giving instructions to those around you, including Jaeseok, whose spirits seemed to be lifted by the patient whom at least wouldn’t vomit on top of him, yet. “Get trauma in here, she’s gonna need some scans right now. Song, follow me, we have more coming from the accident”.
There wasn’t a minute of peace after that, it had been a bad pile-up that ended with patients with all sorts of injuries, the ER was past crowded by the time your break approached, but luckily you hadn’t lost any patients despite the awful wounds. As you caught your breath by the nurse’s desk once again, Namgyu’s mom approached you, her worried expression had deepened from when you’d last seen her.
“Dr. y/ln, is Namgyu getting his scan soon?” she wondered, wrapping her arms around herself.
“I’m sorry Mrs. Min, I’ll see what’s going on with it” you replied lowly. She left once again, not without asking you to take care of her son, and left you waiting for Nurse Kim to come back, there was no way she had forgotten to call the ECG technician.
“What are we waiting for?” Jaeseok questioned, leaning against the desk “Shouldn’t we be back at the ambulance bay? Are there any more victims from the pile-up?”
“You’re not supposed to be excited” you told him off “Those are people, you know?”
“I’m sorry” he shrugged “I usually hate the ER, but it’s been pretty great with you by my side y/n!”
“That’s Dr. y/ln for you…” Minhyun’s voice came from behind you and although it was soft per usual, you could tell it was meant to be sharp. “Doctor Song” his eyes focused on the nametag on Jaeseok’s chest.
“There’s no need, Dr. Hwang” you shook your head “But yes, don’t call me by my first name, Song. Now go and see if Dr. Kang needs you back”
Jaeseok left hurriedly, a shade of embarrassment tinting his cheeks as he looked at Minhyun and then at you.
“Apart from scaring my intern away, what are you doing here?” you turned to Minhyun with a smile on your face that you tried to supress, failing when you saw his eyes were still glued to Jaeseok.
“Nurse Kim called me, the technician couldn’t make it today so I’m running the ECG on your patient” Minhyun explained, his gaze finally turning to you.
“Great, finally! Let’s go, I’m a bit worried about him…”
“Hey Namgyu, I’m back” you greeted, walking inside his small room “I brought my friend Minhyun with me, he wants to take a good look at your heart, like I told you earlier”
Namgyu shook his head, crossing both arms above his chest “No, I don’t want to, it’s going to hurt”
“Not at all, Namgyu” Minhyun spoke to him “I’m actually going to put some of these…” he showed him a small electrode, similar to the ones Namgyu already had attached to his body “On your chest, and we’re going to get a look at the way your heart is beating”.
“No!” Namgyu yelled again “I don’t want to, I want to go home already!”
“Gyu, I’m sorry but we have to take a look first, before you can go home, so you don’t have to come back to the hospital and make your mommy worried” you explained softly.
That phrase got Namgyu thinking as he slowly dropped his arms to the side but immediately covered himself again, “But what if it hurts?!”
“It won’t” you promised, touching his arm lightly.
“That’s what doctors say, and then it hurts!” he seemed deeply bretrayed as he looked at you and then at Minhyun behind you, who was putting the portable ECG machine together. “I won’t do it”
“How about this?” Minhyun walked to the bed again “I’ll tell Dr. y/n to do it on me, so you can see what it is like and you don’t feel afraid anymore”
“I am not scared” Namgyu replied quickly “But… sure”.
Minhyun and you laughed as Namgyu stretched his neck to take a look at what you were doing. Minhyun unbottoned his shirt for you to place the electrodes on his chest, and although for the ECG to get a correct result he had to be lying down, sitting on the room’s chair would have to do.
“Are you ready?” Minhyun asked Namgyu who was sitting at the edge of the bed, Namgyu nodded eagerly, making you chuckle again before you turned the machine on.
“You see Gyu, he has to be very still” you said “And this right here, will show us the way his heart is beating” the machine had already started making the graph, showing Minhyun’s regular heartbeat on black ink, “And it doesn’t hurt at all, right, Minhyun?” you asked, grabbing his hand for a second.
Namgyu gasped, “Why did it do that?!”
You turned to the graph, that showed a peak in Minhyun’s heartbeat that wasn’t there before. A laugh escaped your lips as you gave Minhyun an amused look.
Minhyun laughed too, his hearbeat peaking again before he focused on Namgyu. “I’ll tell you a secret, Namgyu. My heart races faster when y/n is around”
Namgyu wheezed once more and lowered his voice, “Because you like them? My teacher once told me that happens when you like someone. Do you also feel butterflies on your stomach?”
“Oh yes, lots of them” Minhyun continued, a soft smile on his lips “But you see, this doesn’t hurt”
“Okay, I’ll do it” Namgyu announced proudly.
Namgyu’s mom, who’d been outside talking to his dad on the phone, came back, and so did your intern who let you know Dr. Kang didn’t want to see him for the rest of the day, so you were stuck with him until the end of the shift. As you prepared Namgyu for his ECG, Minhyun let him examine his own graph happily, explaining that that’s how his hearbeat was supposed to look like, but if he something that wasn’t right he would try to fix it very soon so he could go back home.
“Mom!” Namgyu yelled excitedly “Look, Minhyun’s heart raced here because he loves y/n!” he pointed at the peak on the graph.
You couldn’t help but burst out laughing in embarrasment and diversion, certain that the whole hospital had heard him. You saw a couple nurses turn their heads, as well as Jaeseok who seemed even more mortified than earlier.
“Well, I guess it’s out there” Minhyun whispered as he walked by you to check the machine unnecesarily.
“I guess it is” shaking your head, you smiled at Minhyun, who you were now free to call your boyfriend in front of everyone, all thanks to Namgyu.

For a child of Demeter, Minhyun was really starting to hate flowers. He tried his best to control whatever was going on with him, but he couldn’t. Sometimes flora around him would bloom and revive, filling everything with color and beauty, and making him hate every single bud, plant or flower that he had literally given life to, because it made everyone stop and stare at this random bursts of magic. And yet, he wondered why that happened, since none of his siblings were going through that, Minhyun even got to the point of thinking maybe his mother had set a curse on him.
“You’re so dumb” Minki laughed, “It’s obvious for everyone but you”
“What?” Minhyun frowned “Do you think it’s a curse?”
Even Jonghyun almost facepalmed himself, his friend was smart, when he wasn’t being stupid like this, or acting like he was oblivious to his own feelings. “Really?”
“Yes, really” Minhyun insisted as he sat down on the ground, looking up at his two friends.
Minki laughed again looking down the path that lead to where they were talking, you were leading your siblings to the lake, laughs erupting every few steps as you joked with them. Jonghyun sat down next to Minhyun, expecting exactly what was about to happen.
“Hey, y/n!” Minki called waving at you.
“Hey!” telling your siblings you’d catch up with them in a moment, after saying hello to these boys. “What are you guys doing?”
Minhyun was mortified as tiny flowers started growing around him when you were close enough. Jonghyun coughed to hide a laugh as Minki picked one from the ground and smirked at his friend. “Nothing” Minhyun answered your question, “We were about to leave actually…”
“Oh, I love lilacs” you cut him off as you picked a couple flowers from the ground “You must know what they mean, right?”
Minhyun shrugged, his face burning as he realized there wasn’t an exit for him at the moment without seeming rude.
“They’re supposed to be a new love blooming, or that’s what I heard” you looked at him “What do you think?”
“I like lilacs too” he muttered, getting up “These are just not on purpos–”
“SO” Minki chimed in “Where were you going? Can we go?”
“Oh, we planned on canoeing for a while, you can come too” you cheered closing your palm around the flowers, “Maybe you could tell me more about flowers, Minhyun”
“You seem to know more ab—” Minhyun stopped halfway through, as Jonghyun nudged him “Sure, yeah”
“Let’s go, then” you beamed, standing next to him to walk together, flowers following your path.
Minhyun was smart when he wasn’t acting like he didn’t feel butterflies in his stomach every time you came around, or when he didn’t pretend not to know what lilacs meant. He knew it wasn’t a curse, he was just falling in love with you and though that scared him, every time you smiled at him, he thought he could live with the flowers blooming around as the beat of his heart raced with excitement.
‘I hope I’m never stuck on a deserted island with you’

a/n: this was requested with Nu’est and I chose Minki! I hope you like it. 💓
“I hope I’m never stuck on a deserted island with you!” you sneered, hands tapping against the wall for the hundreth time in the last half-hour that you’d been stuck inside the room.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Minki asked as he crossed his legs above the table. He’d given up leaving the place as soon as you got trapped inside and he failed to open the door by simply pulling on it.
“That I would die the second I set foot in there! We’re probably gonna be stuck here forever and you don’t care!” with a sigh of frustration, you kicked the door, probably making your situation even worse.
Minki laughed and shook his head. “We’re not gonna be here forever, just until someone comes to get us. I texted Jonghyun but he checks his phone once every three hours, so...”
“UGH!”
It had been your fault for agreeing to go with him to get whatever supplies Minhyun insisted he needed to keep painting the mural, that was your group project. Minki had basically been ‘supervising’ and since they didn’t trust your skills with a brush enough, you had also been on the sidelines. So you two got ordered to make something of your time and get supplies from the art classroom, without having any idea the door was broken and you’d get stuck inside.
“Can you calm down? Minki sighed once again “I’ve tried calling them twenty times. They will come to get us soon”
“How soon?”
“Do you really hate being in here with me that much?” he snapped then, getting up from his seat. Once you looked at him a little alarmed at his tone, Minki decided to take a deep breath, plopping back on the chair, he ran a hand through his hair. “Listen, just try to calm down, okay? We’re not going to be here for long”.
“Sorry,” you muttered, walking away from the door and sliding down the wall, a few feet away from where Minki was sitting. “It’s just making me nervous, being stuck in here, I’m not a huge fan of knowing I’m locked somewhere”.
The boy got up and walked towards you, “It’s okay” he assured leaning down to meet your eyes “But we’re not getting anywhere if we keep fighting. I promise I called everyone I know”
You had left your phone on your bag where you’d been painting so that was a lost case anyway. “So we just wait?”
Minki nodded, “We wait”.
You couldn’t believe how long it was taking them to notice you were missing, or to check their messages since calling was useless as the connection got lost immediately. But after seeing how nervous you’d gotten, Minki had taken upon himself to make you relax a bit, filling every awkward silence with a joke or a comment that would distract you, until you two were laying on the floor, you holding your middle to soothe the pain from laughter. You felt a little regreful for snapping at him at first, but grateful that he hadn’t been pissed about it and was still in the mood for talking.
“Minki? y/n?” A voice that you recognized as Jonghyun’s called from outside.
“Yes, we’re still here!” you yelled, scrambling to your feet to run to the door.
“How the hell did you get stuck in there?”
“Just open the door, Jonghyun!”
“Okay, give me a second”
There were noises of pushing and pulling, some complaints, and finally the door burst open with Minhyun and Jonghyun tripping inside the classroom.
“Huh, our heroes” Minki grumbled, getting up “What took you so long?”
“I realized I had more paint on my bag” Minhyun shrugged “And we didn’t check our phones. We thought you’d just wandered off”
It took all of Minki’s willpower not to smack Minhyun or Jonghyun as he giggled at your expressions. Minhyun handed you your bag, it was already late and the mural was done.
“Hey y/n!” Minki called as the four of you left the building, rushing to get to your side. “W-would you like to get some coffee or something?” he smiled “I mean maybe not today since it was a a long day but someday, if you want to—” he rambled. You’d never seen Minki anxious and you’d never heard anything from him that wasn’t a sharp response that he controlled so well, but you realized he would have kept going if you hadn’t started talking.
“Sure, I’d like that” you smiled “It’s my treat, I closed the door” you waved Minhyun and Jonghyun goodbye, as Minki suggested some places you could go.
Who would have thought Minki would need a defective door to finally have the nerve to ask you to hang out?
“I’m not wearing a dress” you huffed, plopping down on the bed and refusing to look at your friend, who had insisted on this whole thing for two weeks before you finally agreed, but still took every chance you could to bicker with her again.
“Well, you should!” she groaned “It’s a blind date, you’re supposed to look good”
With a frown you lifted your weight off the matress, “I can look good without a dress”
Jieun rolled her eyes, “It’s a blind date” she remarked, spitting as she pronounced the word ‘date’ with exageration “Wear a dress!!”
“I said no, plus, I don’t even want to go, this was your idea!”
“And you agreed to it, plus how bad can it be? The guy hangs out with Dongho, he’s probably handsome and muscular as well”
You couldn’t believe that even Dongho was involved in the matter, you’d always thought he was joking when he said he’d set you up with one of his friends that you’d probably get along with, but apparently he really meant it, and now they all had organized a blind date for you.
“Fine alright, maybe i’ll tell my grandchildren the story of how you forced me to do this and it ended up being a disaster date”
“Or how you met their grandfather” Jieun clapped excitedly, returning her attention to your closet as she rumaged through the clothes.
“Highly doubtful”
“You never know”
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
You stood outside of the restaurant awkwardly, waiting for the guy to show up, since you didn’t want to risk going inside and have everyone else witness how you got stood up. You had told Jieun a thousand times that it would probably happen and that’s why you refused to accept her blind set ups with random guys, but she promised it wouldn’t happen with this Minhyun guy, or she’d make Dongho pay for it.
So you just waited there, resisting the urge to look at your watch and run away. But Minhyun did show up, and although he was exactly on time, he still asked if he had made you wait a lot. You were almost speechless at how handsome he was as you two walked inside the restaurant, with his hair falling down his forehead and the dark coat he was wearing. Despite all of that, neither of you could help the awkwardness that fell down between you as you settled at the table and the waiter brought you some sparkling water while you chose what to have for dinner.
You hated small-talk, but that was the only thing that could come to your mind to get him talking, and make the whole situation a bit less uncomfortable. Minhyun was also a little mortified about it, but he couldn’t come up with a good topic of conversation, he wasn’t good at dates, specially the type in which you had never seen the person before.
Minhyun frowned as he looked over your shoulder, taking one hand to his face and sighing.
“What?” you questioned, trying to look behind you but not seeing anything out of normal.
“I just thought I saw one of my friends... it’s not important”
“You’re telling me they came to spy on you?” you laughed, turning your head again although you probably didn’t know whatever friend he was talking about.
“I told Dongho, Aron has no self-control!”
“Oh my god, you know Aron?” you did the same gesture he had before, rubbing your temples softly “I wouldn’t be surprised, honestly”
“So is he spying on you, or me?” Minhyun chuckled, the amusement making his eyes smaller but brighter.
“Both, probably” you nodded.
After both of you texted Aron to go home before you got up and kicked him out of the restaurant, the tension had finally left both Minhyun and you as you were at last getting to know each other. You realized he was smart and funny, and although he admitted he had been anxious about this date, he was really enjoying your company.
“I can’t believe he came here” you laughed, as you two left the restaurant.
“Well, maybe next time we shouldn’t tell them where we’re going” Minhyun added with a soft smile, only to realize what words had just come out of his mouth. “I— I mean if you– if you want t-to”
“Oh there should be a next time, for sure” you meddled, looking at the way Minhyun’s cheeks had changed color to a soft pink, a shy smile adorning his lips at your words.

Being a child of the Big Three wasn't a very good thing. You know, apart from the fact that you were supposed to be 'more powerful' than other demigods, that also made you a lot more of a target. But you knew you were safe as long as you stayed in Camp Half-blood. You enjoyed it a lot, though some of the campers found you a bit intimidating because of who your godly parent was. That lead to keep a little more to yourself until a very extroverted son of Hermes decided to adopt you as his friend.
Ren was as outgoing and nice as much as he was chaotic. Which meant that you ended up in trouble thanks to him quite often, no matter how much anyone tried to keep Ren’s mischievous mind under control, it never worked. The only one who could talk some sense into him was Jonghyun, the obviously admired and respected son of Zeus.
Despite being one of Ren’s closest friends, you could never find it in you to become close to Jonghyun. He seemed like too much in his own way: too good, too sympathetic, too naïve at times, but that was precisely what made him a natural leader in the camp.
“Guess what’s happening today!” Ren barged in the cabin like it was his own, shaking your body as you hid under the covers.
“I don’t know, but it better be important, or else I’ll kill you.” you glared at him, pulling the sheets off.
“Chariot races!” he cheered, ignoring your attitude, “And guess who’s going to win?”
“Someone from the Apollo cabin?” you suggested, in aims of pissing him off. Ren had never been able to win a race, no matter who his partner was, and since you had refused him several times, he had desisted in asking you again.
“Very funny.”
“Well, get ready, I’ll meet you over there. Who’s going to be your partner-in-defeat this time?”
“This time I’m sure I’m going to win, you’ll see.”
Clicking your tongue, you watched him leave, already expecting the complaints that would fill your days for at least a week about how close he was to win, but the other team or his partner, whoever the poor unfortunate soul was this time, did everything wrong.
“Hey,” Jonghyun beamed when he saw you approach the circle of campers who were eager to get the chariot races going.
“Hi” you smiled back at him, searching around for Ren, until he showed himself, followed by one of his siblings.
“Who else is competing today?” one of the Ares kids questioned, almost bored.
“The emo kid and Mr. Thunder,” Ren smirked, pointing at Jonghyun and you.
“What did you just call me?” you gasped, causing the rest of the campers to stifle a laugh.
“Oh come on, neither of you ever compete, it’ll be fun! A team by two children of the Big Three.” Ren insisted, causing another round of whispers around the campers, agreeing with him that they never actually saw you or Jonghyun when it came to competing. You practiced on your own or with Ren, and Jonghyun was a lot more about teaching others than liking to win.
“If it’s a challenge you can’t back down,” the Ares kid spoke again, looking at Ren and then back at you “So is it?”
“It is,” Ren called.
“I really hate him sometimes,” it was supposed to be a whisper to yourself but Jonghyun chuckled too, shaking his head.
“We’ll do it if that’s what you want.” Jonghyun agreed, looking at you waiting for the approval you’d just given by saying you hated Ren, so you just nodded as well.
Of course, you barely had any time to prepare for it, but you did your best, taking care of the chariot and adding a couple things that you thought could be useful, not to mention that the enormous black horses were your thing as well. Jonghyun was pretty much agreeing with everything you said and adding a couple of things of his own, but the two of you agreed that you wouldn’t really ‘cheat’, though knowing Ren, playing a hundred percent fair wasn’t his thing.
“Are you ready?” Ren asked the moment he saw you, eyeing Jonghyun and then your chariot, a slight frown on his features, but he recovered his smirk almost as quickly.
“Are you ready?” you mocked in a high-pitch tone, “Yes we are ready, I will kick your ass,”
“We,” Ren corrected, “You’re a team.”
Jonghyun laughed, “You don’t really want us both to do it,”
“Well, we’ll see anyways,” Ren was being extremely confident in finally winning, which he would later regret.
Everyone in camp was actually shocked at how good Jonghyun and you were together. With him in control of driving the chariot and you defending, Ren and his partner didn’t even get to finish the laps before their chariot crumbled to pieces while yours was almost intact.
“You were saying?” you laughed as the son of Hermes walked towards you, Jonghyun was already surrounded by a bunch of campers who were congratulating him and cheering.
“I can’t believe you won! How did you do it?” Ren frowned “I was so sure I’d get it this time, Jonghyun can’t even ride a bike and I thought you’d be too distracted by how much you like him!”
“Ren, shut up!” as you threw yourself at him to cover his mouth, he took a step back.
“Oh, you thought I wouldn’t notice?” He laughed but still lowered his voice “I see it in your eyes,”
“Stop it, I don’t— stop—”
“What are you talking about?” Jonghyun finally came back to you wearing his usual gentle smile, but before either of you could reply he continued speaking: “I guess we make a good team, don’t we?” he hesitated to place a hand on your shoulder, so he let it fall back to his side.
Ren grinned, hugging both of you by the shoulders and squeezing hard, making your shoulders and cheeks touch. “Adorable. You can thank me later.”
“He’s right though, I can’t even ride a bike”. Jonghyun added as you watched Ren leave to meet his siblings. Your soul almost left your body as he spoke, thinking he had probably heard the rest of the sentence. “Come on, we still have to get our laurel wreaths,” he smiled, though there was something different in the gleam of his eyes when he met your gaze, his hand indicating for you to lead the way.
a/n: this was a request! sorry for the long wait anon but thank you so much for requesting for nu’est 🥺💓
It was the first day off that Jonghyun had in a while and although he had insisted you should go out somewhere, you knew he was exhausted from his promotions and how hard he’d been working lately, so you convinced him to stay home instead and just spend some relaxing time together.
Although he was trying his best to pay attention to the movie he’d promised he’d watch with you, Jonghyun couldn’t help but let his exhaustion win him over and soon, he had fallen asleep, his head hanging sideways in a very uncomfrotable position. You smiled to yourself as you glanced over at him, normally, you’d bicker about him not watching the film as he promised, but he looked adorable, yet he also looked like he’d be in a lot of pain if he kept napping in that posture. Gently, you grabbed Jonghyun’s shoulders to lean him towards you, careful not to startle him.
The movie finished without him waking up, but your legs were starting to go numb from keeping them stiff. As you reached for the remote, to stop the credits that were rolling down the screen, your boyfriend finally came out of his slumber, a sheepish smile immediately installed on his lips as he looked up at you and rubbed his eyes.
“I think I fell asleep” Jonghyun muttered, still grinning.
“You think?” you mocked, running your fingers through his uncombed hair. You shook your head lightly, amused by his still sleepy appereance. “Just say you don’t like the movies I pick, I’ll be okay” you added dramatically.
“It’s not that!” he rushed to say “Well... most of the time”
“How dare you!” playfully, you hit Jonghyun’s shoulder with your open palm, causing him to laugh and wrap his arms around you, snatching a quick kiss from your lips before you could push him away.
“I love you, and your taste in movies” he smiled once more, pulling you closer to him “Want to choose the next one?”
“It’s your turn” you pouted softly, kissing his cheek “I love you too, by the way.”
It was something between you two, if someone said ‘I love you’ it couldn’t be left without an answer.
